I wish Google would update the Android App for Google Music as it's pretty crappy as it is.

Re: Cloud music discussion: Spotify/Rdio/Deezer/Napster/Google Play et al - free & pa

I got a Google music update on my Nexus 4 last night and it has broken it. I've had to revert to an earlier version to get it working again.

The new update to the Google Music app is superb.
Working great on my N4.

My only issue now is every album has awful pixellated artwork (but this has always been the case)

I still can't quite find the service that works exactly as I want.

Most of my music (about 60GB) resides in iTunes on my Macbook so iTunes Match would appear to be the solution, but I still prefer to actually own my digital music, so an iPhone could never store it all and I would need to carry an iPod as well.

So I moved onto an Android phone and since to Windows Phone, so a Lumia with an SD card currently holds all my music. I have trialled cloud services, using both Google and Amazon, but I find it difficult to see what's been matched and what actually has been uploaded on both services.

I like Amazon's ability to download a 256kbps version of my music, as a lot of my stuff was ripped at below 128kbps originally so this is a much quicker way of improving the quality than re-ripping.

Then add in streaming/discovery services like Spotify and Rdio and it's yet another service. I haven't looked to closely into it, but Xbox Music - which works really nicely on a Windows Phone IMO - seems to offer what I need: Match, Streaming, Discovery. But that doesn't run on my Macbook!

So as I say, in so far as I have looked into it, every service seems to have at least one flaw and nothing yet (of those I have tried) offers everything.

The new Google service may well tick the boxes, however.

I'm using Rdio which I really like, particularly collections, but am hoping for great things from the Google service when they finally launch it here.

I've come back to Google Music this past week after forgetting about it for a while to find it's been completely redesigned. I liked it before, and while it's still good I'm not 100% I'm won over. The whole thing works great, but I want a little more customisation and control over how things are arranged (chronological order, display the tracks instead of covers, separate albums/compilations/singles within an artist).

Also, out of the thousands of MP3's I'm uploading, it's only matched 2 albums so far (Queen). I'm not exactly uploading obscure stuff here!

I also noticed that the audio quality has considerably improved. Previously, there was a distracting layer of audio fuzz over quieter songs, especially noticeable on anything with a solo piano.

Webuser have an offer for a 45 day Napster trial if anyone wants to give it a try. Just go to http://www.napster.co.uk/webuser to sign up and use the promo code WEBUSERPROMO. I'll be doing it next week when my current Spotify sub expires, offer runs until 13 June according to the mag.

Hmmm, ok. So I signed up for the Napster trial yesterday. Realised there's no way of scrobbling to lastfm, so have cancelled it.

Have to see what Google Music all access and iTunes Radio offer when they make it over in the UK. Until then, back to Spotify or Rdio....

Quick question for ACP users....

...Amazon Cloud Player now offers 'autorip' for all CD/vinyl purchases since 2008 (i.e by the looks of things, if you have bought the physical copy, it should appear in your cloud player). Is this only for 'paid' users? Or is it not available in the UK yet?

I can't find anything for all the CD's I bought from Amazon from 2008-2011 so I guess no for UK users.

Cheers Seems US-only at the moment after a bit of googling. Turns out it might still be illegal in this country to offer that service, until the law is changed shortly!

Auto-rip is now available in the UK. I just signed in and it added about 30 albums including a few I no longer own and, best of all, a digital copy of Let England Shake which I bought on Vinyl but didn't come with a D/L code

The Auto-rip has given me 8 albums including The Wall but it hasn't given me Wish you were Here and Dark Side on the Moon which I also bought.

It's amazing, nice one Amazon (love it, especially since I buy loads of cds, so buy them and it's all ripped into my cloud.... well guess there's no reasons to buy mp3s anymore!)

Only grip is I have put stuff on the cloud and because the CDs I've bought have slightly different names, it's double counted them (i.e. Hannah Montana collection, I separated them into the constituent CDs, but it's lumped everything as "Hannah Montana Collection" - ditto with Pink Floyd albums, called it the collection, rather than the individual albums)... but guess I can't complain... well too much (-:

Wow! Yeah! It's picked up albums I've bought going back to 2004! Around 800 tracks, 55 albums. I just needed to clear off a few albums I've bought for chavvy rellies (Ultimate RnB, Michael Bubble, etc) but there's loads on there! Nice!

It's handy actually as it gives me a chance to test the Amazon player without having to upload stuff separately.

Hmmm. Can it scrobble to Last.fm?

Exactly 100 albums, 1277 songs for me - can't believe I have bought that many

I used to have a different amazon account - does anyone know if there is any way of combining them?
