This one is somewhat oversized but is cheap enough that I won't mind if I end up buying another (could use it for hard drives or something instead), plus it still fits comfortably in my backpack and has room for me to shove the cable in there too.
I Brought a neoprene cover in the local £1 shop. It's for an i pad but I can slip the kindle in sideways and then fold the excess cover over to protect the screen. I also found screen protectors for a £1 each to stop scratches. I know I could get 6 screen protectors for £2.99 from amazon, but I dont need 6!

think I dislike most about the kindle is lack of back cover to read the blurb. I am on the 3rd Harry Hole jo nesbo book. In fact i thought I'd read 3 and so started on 4. But kindle shows me i am at the start of 3 still. I'd really like some syonpsis so help me out as to which book is which (or even number series so i can remember the order of them!)
It's annoying to have to check these things. Even pub. dates don't help. I have had to check John Le Carré's bibliography on Wikipedia before each purchase to make sure I'm reading them in order.

The back cover blurb is also something I'd like to see added to the ebook.

I use Calibre to add series information to books that need it, this then displays in the title on the Kindle.

I've seen it does this, but does anyone know whether the detailed metadata description for the books which can be downloaded onto Calibre gets transferred onto the Kindle with the books? If so, where is it?

I'm currently using the Kindle app on my iphone but will be getting an ipad next week and was wondering when you archive a book does it apply to each device independently?

I imagine when you buy a book it sends it to all devices, there's a photoshop book I want that's £10 cheaper than the paperback edition but I'd only want it on my ipad and not taking up space on the phone.

As far as I know each device will operate independently. I think when you buy you choose which registered device the book will be sent to, and I know that I can go to the kindle app on my ipod and get up the list of books I've 'bought' (aka freebies I've snaffled) and can download them from there to the ipod.

collections.

I want to change my collections, to now show them as "purchased books" and "freebies" rather than the existing genres. But organising collections on the kindle takes ages. I can't see anyway of doing it under my amazon account though?

I remember seeing a piece of software that allowed you to manipulate the collections more easily. I think it was Kindle Collection Manager.

I think Calibre also allows you to edit collections but I'm not sure how.

Hi CJ the Kindle Collection Manager is OK but if you use calibre I would install the Kindle collection plugin and use this to manage them, that's how I do it and I have over 140 collections in use. I believe there is also a plugin to show if a book has been read or not so maybe these can tie into each other?

It's an ebook management program, installs on your PC and can interact with your Kindle when plugged in. It can convert pretty much any book format to any other format too. I find it absolutely essential.

Want to do the same sort of thing on my iPad, but can't find a way to sort, or even to edit titles to make sorting easier. I've got a load of freebies which I amended the title of on my mac, but when I transferred them to the iPad, the changes didn't show

I wouldn't mind doing the same but I've got a feeling that the app communicates directly with the amazon site.

I've pre-ordered a Kindle Touch, can anyone suggest a decent case with a light for it? The one Amazon list is 50 quid

I don't think there will be many lighted versions out just yet (aside from the Amazon one). The KT's case seems to be fitted like a skin around the device, so until manufacturers can see the shape of the new KT they cannot make it to use the power elements at the back.
You could just opt for a clip on light.

Personally, I've gone the whole hog for Mrs F. KT plus expensive case has been pre-ordered
