Really? If she had stepped through a door and the kidnapper was there, he could have then killed the girl. She completely endangered the victim (well, at least she would have done had the kidnapping been slightly different, but she didn't know that).

Uncomfortable and thought-provoking viewing, no doubt exactly as Charlie intended

The kidnap scenario might be a bit far-fetched, but IMO it's entirely conceivable that there would be a *major* scandal involving a top politician or Royal (in fact all too likely with a party boy like Harry) the like of which we have never seen before, and that the Government would be powerless to keep under wraps

Indeed - the most unlikely part IMO was the initial capture of the princess. How one artist could have overcome three people, two of them trained servicemen, I'm not sure.
The rest of it - especially the techie bits, seemed very realistic. I especially liked how the woman managed to track down the you tube video.

Very enjoyable I thought. Looking forward to next week as, like Psycho, I'm not a X-fan.

Yes. It came out at the end that a DNA test showed it was a mans finger but that could have been told by looking at the finger.

I think Charlie Booker was relying on his audience dumbing down when watching this. Which is just the type of programme he complains about.

Are you saying that every male finger has to be a fat hairy one with broken dirty nails and dry tissue stuck to it?!

My finger could pass as a woman's finger... well, maybe a small bit of plucking at one end... but I've seen women with more hair on there fingers!

This was suposed to be a Princess. She would have manicured nails/nail polish. A male artist finger is going to stand out but as I said a simple DNA test would have cleared up the question of gender.

Great TV. Made some good digs in all the right places. I'm glad I didn't read the synopsis before I watched it. The surprise of the pig act was hilarious.

Shake Head

I thought it missed the mark by quite a fair way. More misanthropic than subversive, but the more I think about it that seems to be Brooker's problem. Like a reverse Karl Pilkington, I'm starting to feel like his whole persona has never been an act, and that he earnestly believes in his sophomoric cynical bull-crap.

Also, the endless tropes and heavy-handed symbolism: senior advisor who will stop at nothing to protect the reputation of the party, unscrupulous reporter who only cares about getting a scoop, the PM's surname is "Callow".

Why all the cross examination - I don't think it was meant to be taken that seriously - more a framework to make digs at elements of our government and society; in the same vein as Robocop - is not 'real'.

As for the fingers - it didn't even cross my mind in the short time that I saw them - I just made a logical leap that it was the Princess'.

Great telly, with a tongue very firmly in the cheek but played straight.

I loved it. Could happily have had the episode extended by 20-30 minutes, which is a sign of great TV for me.

Not reading too much into it personally, just treated it as an enjoyable piece of escapism although it did have an ending that made you think. Would you have watched it...

Put me in the 'Like it camp'.

I was just glad to see a TV drama that wasn't a period drama or a cop show and had half an idea behind it.

Re the finger. Why didn't they just fingerprint it? I guarantee all the royals have their prints on file for just such occasions!

Other than that, compulsive viewing. Completely ****** up, but compulsive none the less.
