What were your seats like Platty?

Thought they only went on sale tomorrow but I got a pre-sale email link so might click through and see. Sat just to the right of the stage last time in Manchester and were pretty good seats, but was thinking I'd go standing this time around as I don't want to be told to sit down and tap my foot all night.

Manchester last time around was a fabulous night: I really hope they shake things up a little bit this time out though. Still, I always think we're pretty lucky to still get a chance to see them and some of the playing from Brian last time out was as good as I've ever seen him.

Should have gone for it. Sold out today apart from some crappy seats behind the stage.

Plenty on the reseller sites though, of course. Might try Budapest, tickets working out at £100 for a pair and a little holiday thrown in too.

Didn't think of that option before paying £180 for 2 Wembley Arena tickets. Haven't been to Budapest before either.

Such an exciting release for the 40th anniversary - I'd have just been happy with a DTS mix of the album

Serious?

A Freddie version of All Dead, All Dead is exciting. And pretty amazing that it's coming out when precious Brian still holds the final say. The rest though? Meh. Loads of previously released stuff repackaged. Some stripped down mixes, newly created.

This pretty much underlines for me the fact that the Queen archives are thin or bare. I probably own all I need to own of theirs. I think - dare I say it - I'm done.

And I've got O2 tickets but then I read they've dropped the News Of The World content from the show (Spread Your Wings, It's Late) and reverted to the safe space of ANOTHER Greatest Hits tour. I think I'll be moving them tickets on. I've seen them do a fabulous Magic Tour impersonation twice now, once with Paul Rodgers, once with Adam Lambert. Both great in their own way. But I don't need to see it again.

I'd rather hear new stuff, to be honest.

Seems completely worth it to me for the Raw Sessions disc which sounds amazing, not to mention the unreleased 1977 documentary. Can't wait to see what stuff was filmed in the recording studios sessions. Plus, I don't have NOTW on vinyl.

All Dead, All Dead (with Freddie on lead vocals) and the DVD are the only things that really stand out on that release for me.

As LeftHandedGuitarist says, there a few things there to get excited about I think - given that we all learned long ago to keep our expectations down at rock-bottom for any Queen-related releases, then that is enough to get me excited

I would honestly have liked a 5.1 remix though - I was gutted when they gave-up on the DVD-As after just two albums, and that they never released Greatest Video Hits 3, especially as I was so desperate to hear 'The Show Must Go On' given the full surround sound treatment. But as I say, I've learned to expect as little as possible from Queen Productions and just be happy if they actually produce something decent - so like with Queen Forever I hoped for all the unreleased tracks like 'I Guess We're Falling Out', 'Face it Alone', 'Dog With a Bone', or the other Jackson tracks, but in the end I was just grateful that we got 'Let Me in Your Heart Again' as I absolutely love that track.

Where is this from ?
Based on set lists from the US leg of the tour. They started out with two or three new NOTW tracks but they had disappeared by the end of the tour. Maybe, hopefully, they'll be back in for the UK tour as the fan base is a bit more knowledgeable of the older stuff.

I really don't ever need to hear Radio Gaga or A Kind of Magic live ever again. 75-79 is peak Queen for me and I'd rather here a set list that ran like Live Killers than another variation of the Magic tour.

I agree about Let Me In Your Heart Again, too. And the Love Kills ballad is excellent. Ironically, it's probably the best song Adam does live but it's another they dropped after two or three plays.

There's a new documentary about the making of News of the World showing on BBC4 on November 3rd. This might be the 1977 documentary included in the new box set, or it might be something different. Either way, sounds good.

Nice to get some attention on a Queen album that isn't A Night at the Opera.

Wow! Amazing what a different vibe Freddie's voice gives the song. I'd always wondered what those extra lyrics at the start printed in the album were all about.

The video is utterly gorgeous, too.
