Yep, Queen are his favourite band ever and he's become good friends with Brian and Roger over the past few years. I don't quite understand why he gets to be an authority on what tracks should be included (why not get the opinions on other rock musicians who have stated Queen have been a big influence - Billy Corgan? Trent Reznor?).

There was a pretty fantastic live show last year where Brian and Roger joined Taylor's solo band on stage and played Tenement Funster, Long Away and I'm In Love With My Car.

You mean The Coattail Riders? Keep meaning to check them out actually, but their album's hard to get hold of/expensive. I know that Taylor has cited (other) Taylor as one of his main influences as a drummer in the past. I hate the idea of Queen carrying on without Mercury but guest appearances like that are very cool, I'll have to see if I can find a video of it.

I picked it up for £3 from HMV, try there.
Very 70's sounding...not very good though imo. I took it back.

Tell you what, they just played the "long lost" version of Keep Yourself Alive on 6music and it sounded great.

I might give it a go for £3, just out if curiosity. I like him on the FF tracks he provides vocals for anyway.

Having got the new version of Queen II, I have to take back some of what I said about the bonus tracks. The sound quality is stellar, and the new mix of See What A Fool I've Been BBC sounds like I've never heard it before, incredible. Plus the instrumental version of Seven Seas of Rhye is an absolute delight, it sounds so complex and there's a nice surprise ending.

A beautiful live version of White Queen, too.

Am listening to them on Spotify now and have to say, the remastering is a treat. The March Of The Black Queen comes alive, as does much of the rest of Queen II which has never sounded very good on CD. This first five are my favourite Queen years, so it is very tempting to get them all again.

Agree about See What A Fool - I prefer the BBC session though. And what a great album Sheer Heart Attack is!

Still going to dig my heels in over the bonus content (Love Of My Live from Live Killers? Lap Of The Gods from Wembley '86?) and say that it could have been SO much better but that aside, the remastering alone makes these a decent listen.

To anyone who thinks Queen is Radio Ga Ga and 'We Will Rock You The Musical' then have a look at the Deep Cuts 1973 - 1976 CD as a taster for the albums. It's a different - much much better - band.

Looks interesting, I'm struggling to resist myself. I'm doing so by thinking that these releases could've been better and that I already have all the albums anyway, but it feels like Queen fans have been so starved of quality for so long that having the first five albums remastered is just too tempting. Hell even Deep Cuts looks irresistable with that tracklist

It's not helped by my recent obsession with "Father to Son", which thanks to my shuffled gym playlist is now being hummed by me throughout the day

I am somewhat impressed that Deep Cuts at least contains standalone edits of Ogre Battle and March of the Black Queen, which have never been available before.

There's a little interview with Roger Taylor posted on the official Queen site a few days ago and there was this interesting question and answer which went something like:

Q: Do these bonus tracks mark the start of the long awaited Anthology sets?
Roger: I suppose so.

I am absolutely loving these remasters. Made me get Queen out again, played nothing else in the last week.

The bonus tracks haven't been announced yet, so if I had to guess: the 12" mixes which started with Hot Space, Soul Brother (b-side), BBC sessions from News of the World (probably not all of them), some live tracks we've already got.

I'm hoping to be surprised, because I'm not sure what they could put on Flash Gordon apart from The Hero/Flash live. Similarly, I can't think of much that could accompany Jazz.
