So whats the album like? It is out this week isn't it?

Very tempted to pick all his albums up on payday (or when playtrade funds are available)

Sure you're not thinking of Jarvis?

And yes, the album is brilliant and I regret not getting tickets +

Morrissey has been forced to pull the plug on his show at London's Royal Albert Hall tonight due to illness.

The singer is said to be unable to perform and "on doctor’s orders has been told to rest". Organisers of the show have apologised to fans for the inconvenience caused by the cancellation.

Morrissey, due to celebrate his 50th birthday later this month with a hometown show at the Manchester Apollo, is currently on an intensive UK tour which takes in 20 dates this month before heading on to Europe.

He is scheduled to play further London shows at the Brixton Academy and the Troxy Ballroom, Mile End, towards the end of May.

Ticket holders are advised to hold on to their tickets and await more information shortly regarding a possible rescheduled date.

Despite the assurances from the very nice people at the RAH on the phone, I just can't see this being re-scheduled. Hope I'm wrong, but it's a pretty tight tour schedule anyways and I just don't think it's going to happen. It's getting to be one of pop music's great long-running cliches, Moz cancelling these shows...

It's now confirmed that tomorrow's scheduled show in Birmingham has been cancelled too: http://www.symphonyhall.co.uk/view/morrissey.

To answer my own question he has cancelled his appearance on Later. It'ls be interesting to see who they get in on short notice. Maybe they could get The Hold Steady who are over here but not playing a gig tonight.

There's tickets available for the Troxy too, despite the fact that they initially sold out in minutes. It is rather odd.

Are they actually available though. I just tried a couple of dates and both times it couldn't find any tickets

When I called the RAH to confirm whether the gig was cancelled, there was actually a message saying that tickets were available for the show that evening from the Box Office. These were like gold dust when they first went on sale, but it seems almost par for the course these days to release tickets at the last minute to beat the touts or for whatever reason...

The RAH in particular always put out the choir seats (behind the stage) at the last minute, and that's how we were lucky enough to bag tickets to see REM there last year. Very good seats they are too, despite the unconventional view! You're literally feet away from the stage, but just facing the wrong direction! They're the cheapest seats in the house, and better in my opinion than any other than the stalls.

just wasted 2 days in London as found out RAH gig for last night cancelled whilst on the train on the way up yesterday morning, with tickets/hotels all paid for and no refund.....had the same thing happen last year when the roundhouse gigs were cancelled...am gutted to say the least....
Went down to the RAH last night and watched all the fans being turned away...got chatting to a guy who just flown in from Argentina for the rah and birmingham gigs (also cancelled now)...
I can't believe I allowed myself to get suckered into seeing Moz again after swearing I wouldn't after ther last no show...been a fan since '83 but it's times like this that I wonder why....he clearly can't handle so many gigs night after night...I wish he gave himself a couple of nights between each gig, ok fewer dates, but at least he'll play them...rather than playing half empty venues as he has done on this tour and others previously....

No Moet, No Show'ay...No Chandon, No Band On...

rugman you have my sympathies - we missed the Roundhouse last time too and were only saying earlier that we are very lucky to be able to get to London quickly and not have the added expense of hotels etc.

The guy's not getting any younger, he needs to accept he can't handle the pace anymore.

I'm just so annoyed that we had standing tickets this time, which I've never been able to get for previous gigs at the RAH. In 2002 we were stuck halfway up in the heavens. It was obviously never meant to be.. Still, I'm lucky really... 10 Moz gigs in and this is the first time I've been on the end of a cancellation. It's almost a rite of passage isn't it?! We're planning on catching him in Rome on the 31st July, so I just pray he's not going to cancel that one, or it'll cost us a lot more in hotels/flights etc!
