Exclamation The Official Photo-a-Day for July 2007 thread

Now there's only ten days to go I thought I'd start the interest going on this up and coming month long snap-a-thon.

cut/paste
The idea is simply to take and post a single photo a day, every day for the whole month of July, no exceptions*. Don't try and agonise over the small details, try and have some fun again with your camera, whether it's film, digital, point & shoot or DSLR. Try some stuff you haven't done before, street photography, shoot from the hip, macro, wildlife, night shots, architecture, flash, infrared, it's all allowed.

*though if you miss a day, don't worry, just carry on the next day.

Shooting digital will give you an instant result for posting online, whereas with film you have to finish the whole roll, get the film processed, printed or scanned... This could take days or a couple of weeks before you get to put something online (though I expect John C to try it). Again don't agonise over post processing, that's not what this event is for. Try and get the composition and exposure right in the camera.

It might be advisable to map out some idea for photographs in advance as inspiration may not present itself every day, or time/work/family constraints may prevent you from long treks out. Practically everyone had a few days towards the end of the month that were short on ideas. July is a long month, you'll probably realise this by the 21st (or maybe the 2nd!).

To keep a chronological log of photos I have an account with www.flickr.com (the basic account is free), if you keep the uploaded photos to 800 pixels on the largest side then you'll easily get all 31 photos in with the free account. Create a new set and call it "Photo-a-Day July 2007" or something and I'll link it to your name below. Other people use an online blog such as www.photoblogs.org to host their photos with accompanying comments. Otherwise you can set up a free account with photobucket or even just post individual photos here using imageshack.

The first year we had eight people up for the challenge and 2006 this went up to 36 taking part (and 25 on flickr). We've had some stunning photography (and possibly giving participants a better insight into their camera gear & photography). So, anyone else up for this... again again? Just sign in below.

Count me in. Wonder how far into July we'll all get before regretting it?

My set's going to be here:

I'm up for this Somewhat daunted at the prospect of finding images I'm happy to post for 31 days on the trot, but I need something to kick-start my photography again!

My set will be here.

The only way you can join in is if you take a separate photo for this July photo-a-day as well as one for your yearly one. So you'd be taking two a day in July. And we'd see the better one.

I'll give it a go, although I won't actually be able to post photos everyday (I'll be in the midel of Scotland without Internet access for a week of it), I'll certainly be taking as many pics as I can!

Indeed - I think I shall wear my velveteen smoking jacket to process film, and perhaps a nice pair of monogrammed slippers.

My current thinking is that I'll shoot five frames each day, which should mean that the roll gets finished sometime on Sunday. Process it all on Sunday night, pick from the embarrassment of riches that will surely be awaiting me when I cut the dry negs into strips on Monday, and then scan and post each day the following week. The only wrinkle in this is that if we have blazing hot weather, HP5+ is going to be too fast to do much outdoors.
