Your top 10 films of 2018

I don't think we've had one of these threads for a few years. So, what did everyone love this year? I thought 2018 was pretty fantastic and it's difficult to arrange the films I saw into just 10 favourites.

Including anything that had a UK release date in 2018.
Here's my own list:
  1. Molly's Game
  2. Mission: Impossible - Fallout (ranks among the greatest pieces of action cinema ever made)
  3. BlacKkKlansman
  4. I, Tonya
  5. Avengers: Infinity War
  6. Bohemian Rhapsody (not a perfect film by any means, but so entertaining)
  7. Game Night (a surprisingly intelligent and funny adult comedy)
  8. Mary Poppins Returns (pure joy in film form)
  9. Solo: A Star Wars Story
  10. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

And just missing out:
  • Bad Times at the El Royale
  • Overlord
  • Incredibles 2
  • Christopher Robin
  • The Old Man and the Gun
  • Searching
  • Lady Bird
  • Creed II
  • The Shape of Water

Good thread idea.

Managed to see 60 films at the cinema this year, and yes, it was a great year!

In reverse date order rather than favourites first. The first couple may be pushing the date criteria a little:

Stan & Ollie
Beautiful boy
The hate u give
First man
American animals
A quiet place
Black panther
The shape of water
3 billboards outside.

Mission Impossible - for even coming close to topping the previous one but then surpassing it. Amazing action film

Infinity War - For bringing everything together in an ambitious (near) conclusion. Im old enough to remember the poor superhero films of the 80s and 90s so to see this come together like this...

Spiderman Into The Spiderverse - Biggest surprise of the year. Cant recommend it enough.

Pretty miuch the three standouts for me

Ant-Man and the Wasp was highly entertaining, I thought, as was Infinity Wars.
Bohemian Rhapsody was great too.

2017 was such a great year for movies, with The Last Jedi, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Big Sick and my favorite film in years, The Square, to list just a few.

In the last year, on the other hand, I haven't seen a lot of films that really impressed me (there are a lot I haven't got around to yet, though). I guess the only one I would care to name is Black Panther.

3. Hereditary
4. American Animals
5. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
6. You Were Never Really There
7. Mission Impossible - Fallout
8. Revenge
9. Leave No Trace
10. Creed II

Great year, managed to see 135 films that officially had 2018 UK release dates.

Didn't realise Molly's Game was 2018 thought I saw it Xmas last year, looks like I was wrong. Means I've got too much for my Top 10, will have to reflect on this:

Fahrenheit 11/9
Time trap
Ralph Breaks the Internet
Incredibles 2
Avengers Infinity War
Ready Player One
Molly's Game
A Solo Story

That's 10 dropping Hereditary and Bo Rap at the moment, although thinking it might be better than Solo which was a slow starter.

A Quiet Place
First Man
Avengers: Infinity War
Three Billboards...
MI: Fallout
Molly's Game
Game Night
Ready Player One

Haven't seen Into the Spiderverse yet but fully expect it to make it into the top ten (Ditto Bohemian Rhapsody). Incredibly poor year for films IMO.
