Video Editing Software

I have some movies I have made and was wondering if ther are any very simple video editing suites - preferably free where I can do basic editing like cutting a section of a movie out to make a list of highlights.

I may get shouted down for this but Windows Movie Maker which comes with with XP SP2 is actually ideal for doing this

Make that me as well - I had intended to buy another package, along with my DV camcorder, but I find I can do everything I need to with Windows Movie Maker. It's certainly worth trying and you can use it to help you figure out if there are any features you feel you're missing.
