I don't see how the ending shows her as vulnerable - unless I missed something

Aye, it's also a good way of showing that she is "alien" or at least unusual and not quite like anyone else she meets, be they fully human or cyborg.

IIRC it's the same in the anime, and the manga with her look being different to any of the others she encounters on the ground, or in the air after being rescued/rebuilt.

I don't think you missed anything, the ending suggested she had a purpose and was following it quite successfully.

The women in the manga mostly look the same as Alita, it's only the men that have smaller eyes. She's not meant to be noticeably more "alien" in the manga because

Phew, glad it is not just me then who seems to make the complete opposite conclusion, portrayed in the ending, than scoobyood

Usually avoid 3D but saw this last night on IMAX and thought the 3D was VERY good, really enjoyed the film, again

She has no problem running up that pipe... but instead of just going up there and kicking Zalem's ass.. she going back to the ground and starts playing Motorball in order to get a ticket and "be allowed" to enter. None of that makes any sense given her rebellious personality. Why would she follow his control and bother engaging in that extremely rigged 'sport'? That's his game. "Don't underestimate me... I'm coming for you..... in a year or so.... when you let me come up there I guess"

Plus her armour is perfect and regenerates, why does she need an armour upgrade at the end? She had zero issue winning before in her sleeker armour.

OK this is probably redundant after your non-tagged post scoob but I'll respond in tags anyway:

This is quite an amusing read and pretty much sums up the direction film criticism is going in the mainstream media these days, although in response to that woman's question I'd like to raise one of my own: Why does the Sky News website look like something a 12yr old has put together in about 1hr using Wordpress? Could they not find any high res promo images or something?

Oh well, at least it didn't mention cultural appropriation...

Luckily this film has managed to bypass any of that controversy for some reason, maybe because the central character is CGI, or maybe people just wore themselves out moaning about Ghost in the Shell?

That rant on sky news page is laughable but its actually where "film criticism" is at now. Its been around for a while now but its more mainstream now (same with gaming) Its not really criticism, its insane gibberish, its people looking to be offended by things, eg the new resident evil 2 game, there is "criticism" of the game by one of the worst gaming sites that is "racist and sexist" for reasons she made up in head There is plenty more examples

I saw the film last week and enjoyed it, some minor things that could of been improved on. Hope it gets a sequel

It's a bit like the Asian author who recently withdrew her book from publication because a Twitter mob accused her of writing about slavery and not being of black African descent. Because, apparently, slavery never existed in other parts of the world and it's a completely US-centric issue...
