Not pretty, Brighton extremely well organised, ground it out though. We will need to do much much better in the games ahead though.

Not pretty at all in the first half; 2nd half was a bit better. Not surprised Klopp didn't panic buy a CB for just a few weeks; Fabinho looks more than adequate as cover in that position

LOL at all the bitterness, on twitter, about the stonewall penalty - but suddenly Salah is now a serial diver.

It was a penalty, with a clear tug on his shirt. However, the reaction (not least from the ex-Sky *****) will start to impact on referees' decisions going forwards, so bitter rival fans ultimately win.

Not really, tactically, with our squad depth an FA Cup run was an expensive risk. Winning the FA Cup isn't enough for anyone at the top of the PL, if by not being in that competition it means we go on to win the PL and CL I would be satisfied with that.

I didn't get any pleasure out of seeing us go out, I didn't like the performance or the manner in which we lost, but I'm realistic enough to know we don't have a strong enough team to do all three, and apparently Klopp agrees with me.

And don't do the whole "supporters" thing, let's not play the "I'm a bigger fan than you are" game

From where I was sitting, in the upper west, everyone was really unhappy with most of the referee’s decisions, but nobody had any complaints about the penalty.

It did seem at times though that there was a new law making it a free kick offense to tackle anyone in a red shirt!

I went along thinking Brighton should be happy if they lost by less than 3 goals so 1-0 ain’t bad

Believe you me Kevin Friend has never been a Friend of ours - in fact i'm pretty sure he never gave us two stonewaller penalties against Brighton in the last game of last season.

LOL - and City fans have the nerve to accuse Salah of being a diver and claim the refs are conspiring to hand us the title.

How the **** - does Boly get sent off but Kompany didn't ??? Loving all the media backtracking now claiming Kompany probably should have gone as well. Slight problem ... he didn't due the ****eness of every single Premier League ref (and just like today it has changed the entire outcome of the game) and none of them were saying that 2 weeks ago (when they all claimed a yellow card was correct).

Still I see Fernandinho has actually been booked for once

Yeah it wasn't a red card. Yellow at worst IMO. And Fernandinho's yellow was borderline out of control too.

Fernandinho was fully in control, he is phenomenally cynical.

If you think Boly's sending off changed the game, you were watching a different match to me, but yes, it was harsh.

It probably didn't change the result but it left us with no chance of getting anything or making a game of it.

The directive about red cards really are crap these days. I'm all for protecting players from bad injuries but this was a challenge that won the ball miles before Silva even got there. And it wasn't above ankle height either.

TAA out for at least two weeks. Presumably we'll have all our defenders available again at some point this season

Just as well we haven’t loaned a right back out recently then

Though he wasn't getting any games and was probably behind Gomez, Milner, Fabinho ( and possibly even Camacho and Hoever ) in the pecking order.

So Palace score following a free kick given for a handball in their box, which should have been our penalty

Got away with that but they all count. Awful in the first half, not much better in the 2nd.

Let's never play Milner at RB again though he wasn't helped for the red card by an awful pass from the 'outstanding' (according to the Echo) Henderson. **** knows what game the Echo were watching

Milner looked like an old man today and it was a fully deserved sending off. Terrible pass from Henderson but he had no need to dive in. Zaha (who i would have at Anfield in a heartbeat, he reminds me of what Mane used to do) had him on toast all afternoon. Poor performance, defensively all over the place, possibly only Robertson out of the back 5 could be excused, even VVD was shaky. Matip poor,Allison average, and Keita was awful again. We got away with it though, we are fighters and Palace for me are the definition of "false position"- they are far far better than the table suggests and should be challenging top 6 imo. Some good players there. 10 days off now, lets rest and get some players back fit.

Milner seems to have gone downhill a bit this season. He's resorted to being niggly and stopping players any way he can rather than being the good all-rounder he used to be.

I think you're being a bit harsh on Milner. Zaha is likely to cause any right back problems, let alone someone not used to playing there. Yes both tackles were bookings, but neither was a really bad tackle.
