He will no doubt rise again in three days months. Jesus hasn’t been very lucky has he; first that whole cross thing and now this.

Episode 9 was very good, the time went so fast which is always a good sign. The scenes between
were my favourites.

Agree with that.

However, missed part of the dialogue at the end.

I gave up on it at the start of season 8, but have been catching up with the comics so decided to hop back on in to the tv series - i guess its one of the advantages of having everything on demand. I was also quite excited to see how they handled Negan and The Whisperers.

I’ll be honest, I found almost all of S8 a complete snooze-fest. S9 started off being better but obviously didn’t have a high bar to beat! However, as its gone on, I’ve been enjoying it more and the last couple of episodes were really good for TWD.

I do wonder if its my expectations which are part of the problem having read the comic books. I still find a lot of their deviations from those baffling and even how they chose to handle some of the characters and plot lines a bit ham fisted, but what do I know, I’m sure they’re constrained by budgets and series’ lengths etc.

The manufactured jeopardy has really been grinding my gears though. Some of the peril these guys find themselves in is laughable - Rich and Daryl falling down that pit; the wagon in the mud were both terrible. Even Rick’s horse throwing him on to that pile of construction rubble just made me roll my eyes.

And don’t get me started on the pace of the Dead when going cross-country and through woods.

I am trying to enjoy it now as total brains-out (no pun intended) entertainment and not over-thinking any of it. I like the new group of people they added as part of the time jump, but then the Jesus thing happened and that just seemed like a waste.

And there I go again over-thinking it!

Interesting comments, although I think the manufactured jeopardy is just the nature of episodic TV drama and the genre. It is a programme about zombies, sorry walkers, so it is inevitable they will end up in peril every now and then.

I think some of the changes from the comics have been good, if it was a carbon copy there would be no surprises for those who have read them. Although I have seen episode 11, I will go into episode 9 and 10 spoilers only.

She has barely been in it so far but ... I am liking Alpha a hell of a lot more than Negan

I think the execution of the Whisperers has been really good. Its just a shame that on the good guy side we are left with a lot of one note characters that I personally could not care a less about. It could have been a completely different show if Rick and Carl were still around to interact with a decent villain. Instead they have spent years on a poorly executed Governor and Negan and wasted the talent they had. Now we are left with gruff Daryl, whose dialogue I can barely make out and Henry who I really can't remember who he is. Then some of random couplings are very forced. Shame really as Samantha Morton is really good.

So in this weeks episode we have one of the most shocking, emotional scenes from the comics. Sadly the impact is rather lost has half the characters involved have hardly been in the show such that I struggled to even recognise them.

I have up on the comics way before they got this far and even knowing there was “something” I still found the ending very well done and another example how the show seems to have got fresh legs since Rick departed.

I've not watched any of the S9 second half yet, but it sounds promising.

And look at this ! >>

I thought it was a good episode and the build and the big scene were well done (although I think it could have done without the last couple of scenes). It's just that the comics did it better and I think that is in part because they have been painted into a corner due the cast they have left.

Ooh, I was NOT expecting that! (not a comic reader). Genuinely shocked! But yes, take the point about not knowing who some of them were, aside from the last few obviously.

Powerful episode with a proper "kick-in-the-guts" finale. Just when you think the Whisperers have been limp & non-threatening and then BOOM!

Definitely a return to form this season. There's still plenty of issues & problems, but it's rare for a series, deep into it's ninth season, to still be able to deliver strong, emotional moments...

Found hte episode was dragging before her mum decided to break in. Didn't even recognise Tara's head, that was a bad model imo.

Was a good image, but negan's bludgeoning I found far more powerful

Yeah, I have a bit of a problem with post-apocalyptic 'get-togethers' (see also 'underground fight competitions' and such like) and the fair wasn't really doing it for me, but I did like the ending, it certainly shook things up.

I found the pikes scene a little anti-climatic, none of them were really 'main' characters. I'm just hoping it doesn't result in another 'Carol goes bonkers' plot line again.

To be fair I've enjoyed this series and season 9 has been quite a marked improvement over 7 and 8, which dragged horribly at times.

I imagine I'll keep watching until the very end, I'm this far in, and given how generally well put together it is, makes no sense to stop watching. The problem though I think is they're clearly trapped in a sort of holding pattern. They don't want to start building toward any kind of ending but that means everything is a just a variation on the theme of interacting with other communities, hostile or friendly.

The initial reveal shots weren't models.. it was the actors made up, then some cgi jiggery pokery.
