Loved the Haunting of hill house only down side for me was the slightly rushed ending - plus it was far too Happy. Had a fun time looking for all the hidden ghosts in each episode too.

This looks really good....

Great to see Narcos is coming back...

I watched "The Night Comes for us" last night on Netflix OMG what a gorefest! from the Makers and a lot of the actors from the Raid Films.

If you like Martial Arts and non stop violence (some way OTT) then this is a must watch.

IMO 10/10

As far as I can see Gareth Evans had no involvement

No he didn't direct, but a lot of the team behind The Raid Franchise were involved. That's what I read up anyway.

I watched "The Night Comes for Us" the other week and despite being a massive fan of The Raid and really like The Raid 2 I was disappointed by it. It has all the weaknesses of The Raid 2 and none of what made The Raid so good.

The plot is a mush of gangster genre cliches that mistakes elaborate character names and costumes for backstory, depth and interesting world building. It also thinks the way to emulate and top The Raid's action is with excessive gore and blood splatter.

I actually think the director's previous Raid homage, Headshot (which is also on Netflix) is a better film.

Watched Outlaw/King tonight on Netflix, the new Robert the Bruce film.

It's definitely well worth a watch, I really liked the director's previous film (Hell or High Water) and whilst this is probably not as good as that it's pretty darn close. It's basically Game of Thrones with real history instead of fantasy dragons, and that's not just because there's a load of GoT actors in it, you can really see the stylistic influences on it.

Like all Netflix originals it seems it's being underrated by the critics, but the 4 star review from Empire is very fair.

The Land of Steady Habits is well worth a watch. Quite dark and with a great cast, dealing with screwed up family life in Connecticut.

Ben Mendelsohn and Edie Falco make it work very well. Familiar faces in the support characters too.

You may have seen some of his Hong Kong martial arts films from back in the day. Strangely there is very little Kung Fu in this one...

Rouge One: A Star Wars Story has been added to Netflix. Quite surprised by that, didn't expect any Star Wars films would be appearing on there now given the upcoming Disney streaming service.

Also for those with Prime Arrival has been added to Netflix as well.

The Force Awakens was on there for a while but yeah, that's slightly surprising (pleasantly so!).

Finally got to the end of Hill House - enjoyed it a lot, even with the cosy ending.

Came across this video showing all the hidden ghosts in the 10 episodes. I think I only caught about 5 myself!

Is Homecoming one of those slightly annoying viewing experiences like Mr Robot/Hannibal or is it different?

I know he worked on Mr Roboto which i love, but the style is a bit much when all you watch it all the time.

I'm 6 episodes into Homecoming and really enjoying it. Got a really interesting vibe to it.

You can see some stylistic traits from Mr Robot in it, like if you never watched the credits and someone told you that the same guy made both you wouldn't be surprised. It is however quiet different in terms of plotting, nowhere near as complicated or hard to follow as Mr Robot can be at times. (That said I love Mr Robot, S3 was awesome.)

It's nowhere near as arty or arch as Hannibal, and say Legion are/were. I also thought it was nuts how far they pushed the style of Hannibal in S3, it's like they knew they were getting cancelled so decided to take every risk possible!

I've watched 5 episodes and not spotted any background ghosts! Despite knowing about them beforehand.

I'm 6 episodes in and haven't spotted much... I have seen a few things but some of them just seem to be static "shapes" that may or may not be "something".

I'm hoping to finish it before the end of the week.

Episode 6 was really good, more for the way they filmed it and the work that must have gone into it.

I believe 6 is the only one without something 'hidden' in it. Other things are there, obviously.

Finished watching Homecoming & was very impressed throughout. A good story that didn't feel like it had any padding (unlike most Netflix offerings) with a satisfying, despite being low-key, ending. Great acting from all the cast & as mentioned before, the direction/camerawork from Esmail was exciting & sublime throughout. The use of multiple aspect-ratios was excellent & made sense with regard to the story & not just a gimmick. There's a switch of aspect-ratios in episode eight that gave me goose-bumps! ... A first for me.

Also special mention to the soundtrack that was as compelling as the visuals. Especially episodes seven + eight which was like listening to a John Carpenter Greatest Hits! .... Who knew the main theme from The Thing would work in a mild conspiracy thriller?

I watched The Ballad of Buster Scruggs at the weekend (the new Cohen Brothers anthology film). Really enjoyed it. My only criticism is that I could've done with the Buster Scruggs story being longer.

I too enjoyed it this week. I was expecting some sort of Pulp-fiction type crossover during the stories, but no, they were all separate and self contained. Beautifully shot. Clancy Brown looked great in his blink-and-you-miss-him part. Also Tyne Daly! Not seen her in anything for ages.
