Yeah, after having Spotify again for a couple months and having had Apple Music, I find Google way better for recommending playlists than both of them. My wife only ever bothers with Google Music too, she just goes to the It's Saturday evening, etc bit and selects from there, and rarely gets stuff she doesn't like.

Has anyone tried the full paid for version of Amazon music yet? And how does it compare to the rest?

I just got the following, even though I ticked the box to retain my uploaded songs . Easiest way to download 12K MP3s and upload to Google music?

Hello A,

Your Amazon Music storage subscription is set to expire on*3 Sept. 2018. Please be advised Amazon is retiring Amazon Music storage and is no longer offering new subscriptions. Please download your music before your subscription ends. You will not be able to upload music, and all songs that exceed the 250 song limit will be removed. The remaining 250 songs will be removed in 1 year after your subscription expires. These storage changes only affect music you’ve imported. Music you’ve purchased from Amazon (MP3s or AutoRip from CDs) will remain securely stored for playback and download.

Edit- not sure this was the thread that this was being discussed in..oops!

There is a Google Play Music uploader tool, if you download it all from Amazon you can then point the Google Music uploader to those folders

Cheers, currently failing to even download from Amazon .

Desktop app gives up downloading sporadically after anytime between 5-25mins), and web client can only download 200 at once. Even if I could get the metadata to import into a streaming service is be happy at this point!

Are you using Amazon from a browser? Looks like there might be a downloader for that too - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/cus...deId=201377740

Yeah that's the software that randomly stops downloading after a while. It would be fine if it just skipped the songs it was attempting to DL (it does 6 concurrently), then present a list of failures at the end, bit instead it stops completely until you find the failed songs on a list (of 16k) and hit 'retry' next to each one.

Pretty annoyed with Amazon. They provided a nice standalone MP3 uploader when they wanted our business, but nothing similar when they don't any longer!

Success! Managed to download all my music in batches by first letter of artist. Took 12 hours!

Google have a nice bulk uploader/downloader so hopefully that should be easier.

For contingency I'd like Spotify to scan the local files and have them available in their cloud. I see there's a local file option...if I add all the music to the desktop app, will that metadata be matched to their cloud based songs and made available as a playlist (or similar) online?

I'll be transferring the downloaded MP3s off my PC so do not want them available locally in the Spotify app, but do want them available via Spotify after they have been scanned/matched.

I didn't get on with Google. I really don't like how they replace your sings with their own versions of them.
I created an Eminem playlist for my son, using my radio-edits of the singles (which don't contain swearing), and most of them were replaced with the album versions.
Nothing I did would stop this happening.

Same with longer versions, and alternate versions of songs.

In the end I now use Plex from my PC at home. Works fantastically over all mobile devices and on most smart TV / consoles.

It was good going to the in-laws over the weekend, sign in to Plex on their LG TV and watch a couple of TV shows and stream music. As well as show them latest photos of the kids. All hosted from my PC at home.

Yeah the Amazon service was perfect for me as it contained all my purchased music from them, all the Amazon Music stuff and all my obscure versions of tracks, cover versions and weird left field stuff like Plus Tech Squeezbox from Japan.
Now there's not anything out there that matches it...Google is fine for my uploaded stuff, but isn't as good for buying AND it doesn't integrate with my Echo either...Bloody annoyed at Amazon to be honest. It's a dick move to remove this service and yet somehow have space to store unlimited photos if you're a prime member...

You can right click on a song and select "Fix incorrect match" which will upload your version. However there's no telling when it would actually happen, you just gotta leave Google. Music Manager running and it wil randomly upload.

It works, but just a complete pain.
