Anyone tried the Plex DVR? Fancy getting rid of Tivo so bought HD Homerun for £100. Plug standard aerial into it and via Plex program guide you can record freeview (Inc hd) into Plex

Been trying it over last week and it's pretty good (a lot quicker to move around than sluggish Tivo) and can access programs around the house.

You have to wait until the program has finished before watching it in Plex but if u want to watch live telly u just use the homerun app

Got Plex working in Kodi using the add on PlexKodiConnect (i think its called that) on an Amazon Fire TV. Works well - can customise it lots and it will play DTS etc. The official Plex app on the fire tv is nice, but lacks customising and it plays DTS as 5.1.

Well things just got interesting as Plex have released a official addon for Kodi, it is currently just limited to Plex Pass holders (I signed up just to try it) and boy for a beta it works really well and combines the best of both worlds.

Just installed it on a Raspberry Pi with Kodi. Works really well, as you say for a beta it's great.

Plex is probably the best £45.93 I've ever paid for software.

I just tried Plex on Kodi. I was actually disappointed as it effectively works like a Plex app sat within Kodi. I was hoping it would be more like how Kodi can connect to Emby, in that you install the addin, point to Emby so it serves up all the media, but you still browse, etc in Kodi as normal but all plays, playpoints, etc are saved centrally in Emby server.

I use Kodi on an Nvidia Shield TV which already has a good Plex app, so it's kind of useless for me.

The interface had lots of nice little improvements, also mainly for platforms that don't app stores so this brings the Plex experience to them as well.

My Sheild just got delivered today and still think I will go with the Kodi Plex app.

Does anyone here run a dedicated Plex NAS server?

Have ran PMS on my iMac for years but am now thinking of ditching the iMac for a Macbook and dont want the inconvenience of running my hard drives through that to access Plex content.

Any recommendations for an independant solution?

I've got a pretty decent NAS, a Synology DS1815+, and when I switched from using Plex with my PC as a server to my NAS it struggled with formats such as HEVC etc.

I went back to using Kodi. The device does all the hard work rather than the NAS, it's more configurable, better choice of add-ons (not dodgy ones).
