Ash vs. The Evil Dead

Sam Raimi announced at SDCC on Friday that he's developing a television series based on his Evil Dead trilogy. The plan is for Bruce Campbell to star (which the actor also mentioned via twitter).

Excellent news. In all honesty I'm not sure it would have the legs to last particularly long, but if we get one great season or two to conclude Ash's adventures I'd be very happy. Early days yet, it hasn't even been picked up, but hopefully this thing gets moving soon.

If its netflix or starz tv then it might be groovy.

Only if its 18 rated like hemlock grove and not pg13 like dusk til dawn.

Well, this is moving along nicely. Might be an idea to change the title to 'Ash Vs Evil Dead' though.

Latest casting has been announced:

Quote:
Some very Groovy casting news comes in this Wednesday afternoon as Deadline reports that Ray Santiago (“Touch”) and Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) have been cast opposite Bruce Campbell in Starz’s 10-episode series “Ash Vs Evil Dead,” the followup to the classic The Evil Dead film franchise.

In first plot details, “Campbell reprises his role as Ash, the aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons – personal and literal.“

Santiago will play Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick – a Sancho Panza to Ash’s Don Quixote. Pablo believes in Ash’s heroism even if Ash himself doesn’t.

DeLorenzo, on the other hand, is Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past. Reluctantly dragged into the fight against Evil with Ash and Pablo, Kelly finds a different kind of family with her fellow Deadite slayers.

First full trailer for Ash vs Evil Dead. Looks like it could be a lot of fun. Fair amount of gore in the trailer, so NSFW (unsurprisingly).

Yup - I can't remember when I was last so jazzed for something like this.

Just hope that the quality evident in the pilot carries on through the series, and am I wrong for wishing it was 43 minute episodes, instead of 30?
