In all honesty I preferred to wait a few months for a new US series, and not have to deal with this. I guess it makes more sense in the US, its postponed for some reason or other.

No wonder people like Netflix

Watching anything at US pace is frustrating. Always loads of breaks and missing weeks.

I think 3 times this season at the start of the episode I've been like "oh great another relationship episode" but by the end of each I've felt that was actually great, it tackles issues and isn't preachy at all and like 5x5 says, it's because the characters are actually fleshed out and actual people. While STD is busy killing mansplainers to make a point, The Orville is busy killing redshirts in good old Star Trek tradition.

Ep 8 was one of the best episodes of TV I've seen in years, long may it continue.
Brannon Braga is an exec producer of the Orville and directed many episodes.

The Orville.. IS.. Star Trek...

Yes but at the same time it's managed to up its game. I've enjoyed every episode, a set of characters who are likeable and watchable. When its a Bortus episode, it's not like when Dax goes off on some Klingon thing, or Beverly Crusher goes to find herself.

That's not a good thing. Braga is the worst thing that ever happened to Star Trek. Fortunately he's got other good people around him on The Orville.

Very harsh, if you haven't watch the special features on the Enterprise Blu-ray sets I highly recommend it. There are some incredibly well done interviews and retrospectives by Braga which detail a lot of the behind the scenes difficulties and network stupidity especially on ENT. Berman also has some good stuff to say but after all the sexual harassment stuff came to light recently I have moved Berman into the POS category.

It gave me the feels, damn it! I watch Leighton on Single Parents so it kinda felt half Orvillian and half that.

They posted the full track on Wednesday, it’s not a spoiler so I’ll post it here

Honestly curious to know your reasons for this?

Granted he's made his mistakes but he's also got his fair share of great contributions to the Star Trek verse.

The worst thing to happen to Star Trek is a weird title to give somebody who played such an important role in TNG, VOY and ENT, especially when you have people like Alex Kurtzman around these days.

As for The Orville, another brilliant episode this week, hilarious and emotional, knocking it out of the park.

For me, this is starting to get far too deep into what I remember of TNG territory and that is not good. Overuse of the holodeck made for 'lazy' writing in the sense of "don't worry if you can't think of any sci-fi stories to write, we have a device which means you can write about anything you like"

Sure, even TOS, which I love, used several episodes to draw social parallels and talk about social issues but TNG took it to a whole new level.
