Time for some 80's Stallone

First Blood This and Rambo 4 are the best of the series. Rambo is not invincible here and is definitely emotionally scarred. Shame 2 and 3 took his one man army to the extreme.

4/5

Cobra I remember trying to get to see this at the Cinema but was too little to get in. Its certainly not the best of Sly's work especially as he wrote the screenplay, the dialogue is awful and Bridgette Nielsen is just to tough looking to play vulnerable.

2/5

John Wick Far better than chapter 2, Reeves pulls of the action well but he does not do a menacing voice. Not violent as you first think when you see most of the gun shots are CGI blood splatter enhanced.

The Specialist James Woods steals the show with a brilliant over the top douche bag performance. Its not the kind of vehicle that was best suited to Sly's style at the time, the romance between him and Sharon Stone is just way off. John Barry's score deserved a better film.

3/5

The Meg Not bad certainly better than Deep Blue Sea, where scientists create the beast even though they are supposed to be clever. Would have liked to see more of the shark, the nods to jaws were good

3.5/5

Fist Full Of Dollars The opening or perhaps not the opening to the dollars trilogy. Looks clean on UK Blu-Ray, Eastwood's man with no name is Joe here; setting gang against gang to make of with the loot. Between this ande Last Man Standing, I think Last Man Standing is better and has the better music but a shame its had no BD release here yet

4/5

The Festival
Joe thomas plays the same character as his inbetweener character again. Directed by the inbetweeners creator iirc. it feels like rejected script of the series/film. its not great its quite lazy tbh

5/10

The oath
Its quite topical which what is happening with the red hats in the US. the US citizens have the "option" to sign a loyalty oath to the president. Little clumsy at times but good look at the modern political divide in the US

8/10

Halloween 2018
Its very much a 6/10 film, god knows what it did as well as it did, its very above average

6/10

Begin Again - Keira Knightley is a songwriter recently dumped by her rockstar boyfriend. Mark Ruffalo is an A&R man recently dumped by his label. They meet cute & decide to make an album on the streets of New York. Ruffalo's excellent as ever, Knightley's awfully pretty & has a surprisingly decent singing voice, & as you'd expect from director John Carney (Once, Sing Street), the wall-to-wall music's quite ace. Add to this a solid supporting cast including Catherine Keener, Adam Levine, Mos Def and Haliee Steinfeld & some lovely NYC locations & you have a winner. Recommended. Warning: Contains James Corden.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse - Tired of superhero origin stories? Tough ****, here's five more! Not to worry though, as the story of new Spidey Miles Morales & his multiverse chums is a hugely entertaining, endlessly inventive, action-packed, very funny treat for anyone who's ever enjoyed a comic book or comic book movie. Superb voice work from everyone involved (bonus points to Nicolas Cage, who apparently asked the directors if they wanted him to go 'Full Cage' when they felt he was holding back ), some truly sublime animation in places & a great soundtrack. Richly deserving of its Oscar win & highly highly recommended.

Fantastic Beasts 2: 2Beast2Furious or whatever it was called - More Potterverse adventures with the world's worst leading man. Takes all the problems of the first film & doubles down in the hope we won't notice there's no real story here. Eddie Redmayne is once again a completely unsympathetic bag of wet lettuce who has zero chemistry with supposed love interest Katherine Waterson, & the 'plot' seems to be a completely random collection of setpieces with no beginning, middle or end. J.K. Rowling might be a serviceable writer on the page, but for the love of god, get her a co-screenwriter, or at least someone who has the balls to tell her what might work in a book doesn't necessarily work on screen. I've nothing against worldbuilding in a movie franchise, but the movies themselves really should stand on their own. I shouldn't need to wait until part 5 comes out in 2024 to understand WTF is going on. On the plus side, the effects are much more polished this time round, Johnny Depp looks like he's having fun chewing the scenery & Jude Law lends some much needed spark to the film as a young Dumbledore. Watchable, but incredibly unsatisfying.

I would watch Fantastic Beasts 2: 2Beast2Furious not the film they put out. I watched the honest trailer of it and looks naff

Seeing as the movie pass is going up to Ł11.99 I though I'd binge on some NOWTV movies

Escape Room 2017 NOWTV there is another one by the same name but I doubt its any better than this. Sean Young and Skeet Ulrich (remember when he was touted as the new Johnny Depp) are in this drivel, the other actors you've never heard of made on a budget of 5p Stupid actors making stupid decisions in a highly contrived situation. Utter garbage

Insidious: The Last Key NOWTV something to be said for movies that use a hero/heroine are over the age of 40. Lin Shay does a cracking job again, after the miss step that was part three. This movie takes us from where she started right up to the phone call that starts her involvement in part one. The monster is still not as scary as red face who if I saw for real would certainly cause me to royally **** myself. As a bonus Diaz from Arrow (if anyone is still watching it) is in this and if he wasn't wearing a hat you'd think it was the same character.

Black Panther NOWTV I had wrote a couple of paragraphs but I can't summarize how much is wrong with this movie and how much I dislike it. So the short version its ****

Final Score
Its die hard in a football stadium and its fine, its beers on saturday night film some dodgy Russian accents

Overlord
Very over hyped but its still good. Nothing new as its nazi zombies again but its fun action

Slaughter house rulez
Total **** is the nicest thing I can say about this film, takes ages to get going and its not very good when it does

I was looking forward to Overlord, but ultimately felt it was a little bland. Was expecting BoB meets Wolfenstein but it felt more like a TV movie.

Escape Room NowTV yes another one, this not the one with the blonde from daredevil. Its not as bad as the one before but its still bad.

.5/5

Mandy NowTV absolutely bonkers don't have the words to describe it

4/5

Deadpool 2 NowTV better than the first more action, better effects 3rd act could have done with some trimming here and there.

Mad Max 2 NOWTV. best of all 4 of the Mad Max films

5/5

Tag NOWTV. Quite a few laughs with this one, Hawkeye, really went for it in this, the scene with the teddy was very funny.

4/5

Josie NOWTV. "Starring Game Of Thrones - insert name here" really should be a warning, all the actors who were not well known before the series are really quite poor in other roles. Sophie Turner is up her as the Titular teen taking revenge for her daddy who was executed. Dylan McDermott is here playing another seedy type; who is pawn in a game he has no idea he's part of.

0/5

Blur Iguana NOWTV. Sam Rockwell is usually so reliable, but he can't save this heist comedy (I use the comedy loosely.)
