Jack Warden - sad to see you go

Haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere, Jack Warden passed away on Wednesday at the ripe old age of 85.
Always loved this guy in films, especially in Heaven Can Wait, The Verdict and 12 Angry Men.
So long Jack and thanks for the memories.

May he RIP. Good character actor. Curiously, I have often mistaken a Jack Warden billing in an old movie and expected to see the British actor Jack Hawkins, who of course played Major Warden in "Bridge on the River Kwai"

I believe that leaves Jack Klugman as the last surviving member of the 12 Angry men.

I saw this this morning and was absolutely shattered. One of my favourite actors, and criminally neglected.

Thank you for the memories Jack.

My fave film role of his was as the island doctor in Donovan's Reef, but to me he'll always be Harry Fox from Crazy Like A Fox. RIP Jack.

One of those actors I thought was already dead years ago. Klugman is indeed the last surviving member of the 1957 Twelve Angry Men cast. Warden had a very distinctive voice and was very effective in supporting character roles - for instance, in All the President's Men.

My favourite role of his was in 'Used Cars'. The whole thing is hilarious but Warden is terrific in it.

Unforgettable in many films but I'll always remember him for "Shampoo".

Sad news
Watched him recently in two episodes from the first season of The Twilight Zone -The Mighty Casey and The Lonely - one was a comedy the other a drama and he was equally good in both.

I remember him mainly from Crazy Like a Fox. One of these guys who you always recognised from elsewhere but was never really a star.

He was a lovely actor - so good in everything. I saw Penny Peyser last night - she played John Rubinstein's wife in Crazy Like A Fox, and we discussed him. The one time I met him (at the CLAF wrap party) he was very nice. A nice, long life, too.

He was also terrific as the stuffy German doctor in "Death on the Nile" with Peter Ustinov.

Recently watched him in Heaven Can Wait and Bulworth. Always a welcome presence in a film.

Indeed; Jack Warden is one of those perfect 'B' list actors with 'A' list ability (like Martin Balsam or E. G. Marshall, two more of the 12 Angry Men) - whistle him up and he could do a great job in practically anything.

He'll be greatly missed.

Good 'ol Jack, RIP. Always good value, great (and very funny) in 'Being There' as the President freaked out by Chauncey Gardiner.

PS Lee J Cobb fits perfectly into that description too, John. 0-)
