Glad Vertigo and The Searchers wound up in much better position than last time.

Thrilled that Singin' in the Rain reached #5!

Too many war and message films for me though. I know all about the harsh realities in this world and some things are sad enough already, so that's not always what I want to see when I watch a film!!!! But it's all so subjective any way, isn't it?

And Rio Bravo was not even in the 400 nominated films!!! What is this?

I hope one day they will make a list of 100 Greatest Underappreciated films so we can see a little variety in there, some great films that should be (re)discovered, rather than the same films, coming up in every list no matter what the theme is

I'd call it an overall improvement on the previous list, with a few galling exceptions, and not including Rio Bravo on the initial shortlist is an outrage. Jonathan Rosenbaum's rant over the previous list still has much food for thought in light of this new list.

I lost all (well, some...) empathy with Rosenbaum's argument the second he dissed Shane - talking of it in the same breath as 'Dances With Kevin' and 'Butch Cassidy'. Up with this I will not put.
