Which would be fine if it was 7.5. But it's not. I mean it's .1 off Skyrim...

OpenCritic (which is where the cool kids go these days apparently) score it the same - 83%

Two of the games in dmb's own list of recommendations reviewed worse. (though both those games are good!)

As for the reviews - you yourself linked metacritic where I quoted the high scores from... http://www.metacritic.com/game/switc...critic-reviews
80% of its reviews are 8/10 or higher

.....because metacritic shows you the reviews of the main websites that everyone is familiar with (instead of having to go to their individual websites). The overall score is meaningless when it includes reviews from such well-known video game websites like the Telegraph..... ;-)

When the likes of Polygon, Game Informer and Gamespot (who dish out 9s for fun) give it 7-7.5, it's clearly something that's not for everyone...

Game informer gave the Switch Skyrim 9 (vs 7.5 for XC2). Gamespot gave it 8 (vs 7 for XC2)

So an apparently inferior version of a 6 year old game scored higher than one that's been out for a week.....

Oddly I wrote a bit of a longer reply than three words but tapatalk seems to have lost the rest.
Either way, I'm not arguing, looks to be a pretty good game tho personally decided I wasn't for me

There are games in that list that I didn’t even know where available.

These are the pick of the games so far:-
- Mario Odyssey
- Zelda BOTW
- Puyo Puyo Tetris
- Mario Kart Deluxe
- Mario & Rabids
- Steamworld Dig 2
- Stardew Valley
- Golf Story (not played this one, but people love it)
- Sonic Mania

LA Noire, Skyrim, Doom and Rocket League are the ones I’ve sunk the most time into.

The Nintendo Switch experience there, folks.

Your #1 place for substandard versions of years old games.

For £45 each.

They gave tetris 7 so it must be ****. You must have typo'd recommending that one.

I get that. Any game is a matter of taste. And I said myself this isn't typical Nintendo fare. I just don't get why you'd cherry pick reviews to justify not liking it whilst recommending lower scored games.

Yeah I do avoid buying any game I can get on any other platform. Huge price markup on most of them! But if you don't have any other platform...

Lol you're still not getting it. ;-)

The majority of the review sites that most follow gave it 8+ (which doesn't include Giant Bomb, who raved about the PS4 import version 12 months before the Switch came out). XC2 is the opposite. Only IGN of those sites gave it 8+.

So, again, you're comparing a game that is over a year old (and came out a lower price point) with one that came out a week ago at full price. Despite being the only "big release" in December, the game sites are hardly talking about it. That tells its own story.

LA Noire is £35.

Not really sure how these are substandard, last time I tried to play my PS4 on the train the screen didn't even work and the was very uncomfortable to hold.

I don't own Skyrim but it appears that reviewers seen to state that the frame rate is a lot more stable abs the game is over all less buggy then other platforms.

I did buy Doom on the Switch over the PS4 and begging able to play it anywhere is refreshing.

Edit:

LA Noire down to £25.99 on Switch at Amazon today.

Disagree - I spend more than half the week, every week away from home so having the ability to have great games on a portable makes it ideal for me.

LA Noire, Rocket League, Doom, Bomberman, Mario Kart where the ones I was thinking but now seen that website am spoilt for choice.

Should mention I will be using it as a portable machine 90% of the time.

Thanks for all recommendations so far.

I really wanted Bomberman too, but the general consensus is that it's bad

They patched the heck out of it post release. It's actually good now.
Be advised though that after inserting the cart you have to wait whilst it basically downloads a whole new game to replace the one on the cart!!

Ok. So your new rules are I'm not allowed to compare it to old releases or re-releases?
OK. Comparing it to recent games only... it is 'only' the third highest rated Switch game of the past 4 months after Mario and Steamworld.

I was going to reply to that, but I just can't be bothered any more....

At the end of the day, if someone wants to spend £40-50 on a 50-100 hour game, that the likes of Game Informer, Gamespot, Polygon, etc say is bang average, then be my guest. Maybe they're wrong, and the world renowned and trusted website "Cheat Code Central" knows better...... ;-)

I might consider picking this up at some point then. Maybe it'll be in a digital sale at some point...

Talking of digital sales, Nintendo Christmas Sale has begun: http://www.nintendo.co.uk/Search/Sea...7394-5-81-6956

I grabbed Tetris using the £5 off £20 paypal offer from a few weeks back.

The ONLY view that matters is the players view. There are some stunningly rated games I think are crap. There are some terrible rated games I think are great. If it doesn't look like a game you'd like - don't buy it.

My point all along is don't write it off because you cherry picked some reviews that said it's bad whilst promoting other games because you cherry picked reviews that say it's good. It makes no sense. Just say I don't like hardcore JRPG's - I do like Tetris. No-one can argue with that. That's a matter of taste. It's not manipulating data to support your pre-determined view.
