Incredible seeing as Arsenal tore us apart earlier in the season when we had a much stronger squad. Sanchez and Walcott did absolutely nothing all game and Ozil shy's away like he does every competitive match.

Had this down as about 5 nil before the game!

Well LVG has had a rough patch but has now turned it around, the board who stuck by him will be feeling pretty smug after that. Three points behind City, a point ahead of West Ham. Wonder if that fourth spot is up for grabs

A very good day, far above expectations. Again, the manner of the play as important as the result. Fast, positive, attacking.

What does LVG do when the senior players return with their concrete shoes?

Great result, played like United of old, another good performance from Depay, another brace from Rashford, passion and theatrics from the manager. These academy players are making me rethink José and wanting LVG to stay!

Rashford needs to keep his place for the time being.

I hate to be fickle but if things carried on in this vein, id be happy for lvg to see out this season.

But it's nothing new. We've always been good against the top teams under LVG, but never turn up against the worst. We'll probably come away from the WBA game with nothing and it's back to square one.

I think if there is one manager in the game who would keep well-performing youngsters in place when the seniors return, then it is LVG. The seniors we need back are in central-defence really, but the fullback positions would be the real test - Valencia is back in training so will he replace Varela, who was very good once he settled down? Rojo started over Riley today, but if CBJ had been fit then I'm not so sure if he would've.

LVG makes a good point about the importance of the second game saying more about a young player than playing off adrenaline in a debut match; in that respect Rashford isn't doing too badly at all

Nothing has majorly changed with tactics, just personnel and academy players showing their hunger to play for Manchester United has made such a difference. Showing a lot of 'first choice' players up as being guilty of a 'feet under the table' attitude, very well described above as concrete shoes.

Certainly shows that a manager isn't necessarily doing anything wrong, so many more factors contribute to results, players being a huge one.

Isn't it endemic in the big clubs as a whole though? They spend a small fortune rounding up the best young talent in the country and then never give them a chance. Presumably if they had no footballing future they'd have binned them off already, so such young players could probably be doing a decent job in the PL if they're only given a chance.

Indeed but unfortunately while every other clubs spend millions on established talent, most other teams will do the same in way of keeping up with the Jones'.

Alex Ferguson took the (now) controversial decision to nuture and field almost a whole team of youth players. In today's game it wouldn't happen, and is still surprising it happened then.

To be fair to Sir Alex, if I recall they started winning almost straight away, didn't Beckham score a wondergoal early on? It was also an era when United didn't have two decades of winning stuff to compare it to. Not sure the Sir Alex kids would have survived a LVG run.

Yes results were decent from the start, and you could argue three wins on the bounce this week is also a good run, the difference is established players I suspect will walk back into the team.

If LVG sticks with a winning formula then huge respect to him, I don't think he will however simply because things are different now, which is the point I was (perhaps not very elegantly) trying to make.

Rashford looked great for United today. As much as his two goals, it was the calm way in which he hung on to the ball, turned the defenders and set up Herrera for the 3rd. A beautiful bit of skill.

Nearly got a pen as well - just outside the box. Looks an exciting player. Seem to have lots of players who like the left side of attack, Martial, Depay and now Rashford. Let's hope he's not a Machada.

He look confident. Something that Depay hasn't for months.

I would not get too carried away lads as one of the goals was a horrible deflection as the keeper had it covered so it should have been a 2-2 draw. and I would say that if it was the other way around.

We all know that this team has got it in them to follow up 3 great results and performances with defeats to Watford and WBA, but at least a step in the right direction. Great to see the kids playing so well.

Remarkable that in a season where Chelsea and Utd have been so bad, that it's Leicester who've taken advantage.
