So, seems it Lukaku and not Morata now.

Not sure about that, Morata would have been great, but Real are playing hardball.

So far they have done the same as previous years. Hung massive carrots in front of us before & during the beginning of the transfer window, but none happen & we end up with everyone elses leftovers & another dire season. I hope things change, but the longer it goes on..........

Lukaku isn't a leftover though, he's a proven premier league goalscorer.

I'm thinking Real are still angling for De Gea, even though there's nothing to say he wants to go there.

£75m! WOW

Just shows what talent is lurking in these academies and not really ever being given a chance to shine at the home club.

He'd be a great signing for you though, he'll definitely score some goals.

Some confusion in various sources about how done the deal is.

The Manchester Utd Thread 2015/2016

The guy has 150 career goals at 24. I think he's a little like the Cole signing. Really solid proven PL striker who will score us goals. He doesn't have the X Factor, but then I don't believe Morata does either. If its a choice between the two I would take Lukaku all day long. There don't seem to be many top class strikers about - we just need to ensure we create chances for him.

Is Utd with Lukaku stronger or weaker than Utd with Zlatan? I say weaker, what about you United fans?

If he's signing, then we will be stronger than we were yesterday. Zlatan already gone. If Rooney is leaving, I'll not be surprised if we also get someone else. Then we will be stronger than last season.

Why not Morata too? Not sure about the Croatian winger, but Matic would be good too.

From an outsider POV (Spurs fan), I think Lukaku is a superb signing. He's young, proven and used to the Prem. I think he'll be a massive success.

That's another £75 million though! I do think we need another striker or winger or inside forward as we are still a little light up top. But feel if we get Lukaku then we can take more of a gamble on someone with potential. I know we have a lot of money, but can't see us spending £150m on strikers. Besides I think Greizmann will be signed next summer, lools like that's the plan.

Dont like the idea of the Croatian winger, I've never seem him play, so can't comment too much, but surely we can do better - Mahrez would be my choice.

Lukaku would benefit more from a team with proper wingers, which Man Utd don't really have. Plus he's a bit of a flat track bully and needs to work on his hold up play. Should still score plenty but he's no Zlatan.

I'm not sure Greizmann will come. The £150m on strikers we can afford, but the wages could be the problem. Although with Zlatan off the books and (maybe) Rooney we could do it.

He just signed an extension and had stated he's staying at Madrid due to the transfer ban, I would imagine it might be possible next year.

Indeed.

Apparently Chelsea are refusing to pay the agent his £12M cut.

Quite why the agent think he has earnt £12M ( along with the £45M from the Pogba deal ) tells you all that is wrong the game

Aside from Zlatan being accused of being a flat track bully when we signed him, I'd argue that a flat track bully is essential for Utd right now. All those draws last season in games that we should have scored, against teams who finished below us? I'd like a player who can score against them, as much as a player who can score against the teams that finished above us.

Gutted Chelsea have missed out on buying him back, but glad they were unwilling to pay agents fees!! As Adam said that shows what's wrong with the game now.
