Seems Rojo is out for the season as well - which means three of our four central-defenders probably won't play again this season, and our top two goal-scorers won't either. Of the three remaining strikers we have, Martial has been in miserable form all season and has had his attitude questioned by the manager; Rooney has been in miserable form for ages, been injured off-and-on for months, and plays like he's 10 years older than he is; meaning we're now relying on a 19-year old Rashford to win us the Europa League to get a Champions League spot next season, since Mkhitaryan is the only other player who can possibly score a goal.

Good thing we've been scoring goals for fun this season isn't it?

But more than anything else, it's shocking news for Zlatan - an injury that severe at his age

9 months was the rumour going round yesterday from quite early on - most UK media sources were running with it last night as well

Would a longer term injury for Zlatan not make him more likely to stay? He could disappear off and recuperate somewhere hot and come back fresh after Christmas. He's looked a bit knackered these last few weeks, but without him god only knows where we'd have been this season. I really hope we see him again in some way.

So we need to buy a striker in the summer. Martial is struggling at the moment, and I don't get the feeling Mourinho is too much of a fan of his.

Can't see Utd offering a new contract to Zlatan now. Could be out 9-12 months, if that's the case it's deffo over for him at the top level. He might be able to do something in the MLS, but coming off of that sort of injury and being 36/37 is a huge ask, and risk for any team.

Real shame, and also for Rojo, both key positions. Makes the rest of the season difficult.

Bailly is immense today in what has been quite a 'traditional' away performance.

We're playing quite well and we're doing what needs to be done.

Beat City on Thursday and we leapfrog them and go level with Liverpool.

Good result - and 8 changes, so a few players rested for Thursday.

Bonus City going to extra time and Liverpool losing. Really tough run in, but hitting form at the rigjt time, last three results very important.

Nice to see Rooney score, hope he doesn't start on Thursday, but goof if we can have him as another option for the rest of the season.

I can't see us making the top four with the respective fixtures remaining. Liverpool should easily win their last four games, and City's only tough game is the derby, where we still have away trips to Arsenal, Spurs and Southampton, all of which I can see us dropping points in, especially with our injuries.

I'll be happy to be proved wrong, but I think we will do well to keep hold of fifth place.

How can you say Liverpool will easily win their remaining games when they just played awful and lost to Palace at home?

We've always got a chance against City as long as their defence and keeper keep being dodgy. If we put out a similar team to the one against Chelsea, we have every chance IMO.

I said "should", I know it's not a given, just a feeling I have.

We will need 5 wins and a draw, with a very tough run in.

My only crumb of comfort is that though we lost to Palace, they are actually now on 7 wins in 8 including wins against Liverpool (A), Arsenal (H) and Chelsea (A) and still have to play you. Palace are no push over currently - though you don't play them til the last day (at home) and Fat Sam always bends over when playing at Old Trafford

I think away games at City, Arsenal and Spurs first are more concerning.

You've got 'easy' fixtures, which paradoxically, you're more likely to drop points in.

Yep. On paper, our run in is easy. In reality, based on this season's result, you could say I would prefer it to be Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Everton left to play

Aren't your Arsenal and Spurs games either side of the 2nd leg against Celta Vigo as well ?

With only half our team out, it looks a piece of cake.
