Amazon Fire TV

Netflix won't play anything for me at the moment on this. Amazon prime fine though

Edit: solved by clearing app data

Usually pre-registered as said by others, but you can also tick the 'is this a gift?' box on the product page when ordering to get it unregistered.

Stuart.
It is, however you can unlink it almost as soon as you start the thing up. it's about the second thing it asks you.

I finally received mine this morning.

I wasn't expecting much regarding the Plex client after what I'd read but I can't see anything wrong with it. Really quick and responsive.

I've sideloaded SPMC onto it as well. I can't get it to appear in the recent list even though I purchased it through the appstore and have synced it.

I installed Llama instead and launch it though another app. It seems to work well and again is very quick.

Can't go wrong for a £49 device.

I keep seeing Llama being mentioned in this thread. Can someone please tell me what it is, and why it's worth having? I'm a noob, so talk in simple terms, please!

Thanks.

Apparently it's a very useful tool but its main use is to allow you to open xbmc from the home screen of the Amazon fire tv. You assign an app to sacrifice using llama. When you click the sacrificial app to open it - it doesn't open! Instead llama does mad ju-ju and xbmc opens instead. To open xbmc normally is real kerfuffle, about 11 clicks!

Hi LordoftheDance,

I got Llama from the following page that was mentioned in this thread :

http://kodi.wiki/view/Amazon_Fire_TV

I followed from 2.1.6 onwards. You downoad a GUI app which makes it easy to install.

I also changed the logo of the sacrificial app to the Kodi icon using the GUI (it says you need root access but it seemed to work for me without root).

I must admit I quite like the device, though I read that Amazon are bringing out a smaller 'chromecast' style version soon also.

I spent some time browsing through the prime content, there seems to be a lot of old films (Abbot and Costello, etc) which may be worth a watch sometime, just for old times sake! I did have a quick look at Logans Run though and the picture quality was dreadful, like it was mastered from an old video tape. Not sure if thats the standard for older movies or not.

The remastered original Star Treks are on Prime, as is Twin Peaks (though that seemed to have an orangey cast to it also...)

cheers

I would agree with you. I really like the Amazon Fire TV - wish I'd bought two now.

Have you got an Apple TV 2?, probably get quite a bit for it if you sell it.

Only the 3. But looks like I can still get £60 or so. Not bad considering I paid £90 for it 2 years ago....

I sold my ATV2 last month for £135 on eBay. There's still a huge demand for them.

My XB1 now meets all my streaming, TV, and gaming needs. If it only had a Spotify app it'd be perfect. The sooner Xbox ditch their pointless Xbox Music service the better.

Is yours jailbroken? They're the ones people are after especially if it's software version 5.3.

yeh jailbroken with aTV Flash & XBMC

not sure I can be bothered with the (potential) hassle of dealing on eBay though, would rather try on the forums, although I know i'd probably make 3 times as much on eBay though!

[edit] CeX are offering £100 odd, might go down that route - https://uk.webuy.com/search/index.ph...+tv+2&section=
