It's a shame there isn't just an Android stick so you can install any Android app. I guess that the lack of a touchscreen is the reason you can't.

Nexus player in there equivalent although I haven't tried loading any Android apps but apparently you can install a version of lollipop (Lolirock) and run full Android apps. You will need a mouse to navigate

You can if you are running YouTube or Netflix on an android phone. In the app on the phone you click the screen icon and select play on fire stick, then you navigate on the phone and it comes upon the tv when you press play. I haven't found the option in any other apps yet.

Is there more integration with an Amazon tablet? My wife has one she doesn't use, could I use blinkbox on it?

Looking at the blinkbox FAQs yesterday, it seems that their app doesn't run on the Amazon Fire tablet at all, because it needs the Google Play Store installed.

https://support.blinkbox.com/hc/en-g...Android-phones

Don't know if it's possible to sideload the Play Store to get around that?

Just got the stick. Pretty impressive.

For anyone missing mouse control, I downloaded an app on my Nexus called Wukong Remote which gives you this. It's not very smooth but at least allows you to access stuff you couldn't before. Some of it is in Chinese but switching to mouse is English (the 4 square icon in top right).

I managed to sideload ITV Player and it works ok, some interface issues though. Can anyone get All4 working? I get an error about shared libraries when trying to install.

Finally had a chance to get my Stick all set up and so far I'm extremely impressed.

Remarkable how a £19 stick can handle Plex over WiFi better than my XboxOne can over a wired connection.

Got Kodi fully set up on my Stick yesterday, including the shortcut on the main menu. Prefer it to Plex and performance so far seems to be comparable to my Pii2, though not quite as quick.

SD card slot on the back. Up to 128GB storage. Cheap as chips to match Apple's new offering in the storage sense (though I still have no idea why you'd want to).

Good riposte.

That's a very good price point!

Sideload Kodi onto it and you've got a very capable machine indeed.

H265 is pretty much essential for 4K streaming.

I have a 2tb hardrive full of dvd rips MKV and MP4s would the new AFTV box be able to play those? I could then get rid of my WDTV live box and upgrade to this.

How about over a network? If so you wouldn't even need to sideload Kodi... Although you still should as it's gorgeous.

You couldn't with the last one natively could you? Only via plex or something similar.

Actually you couldn't actually play video files back from an external drive natively either, could you? Have they done a complete U-turn with this one then? Might not want to sell your WD yet H Dot!
