I finished this one last night, a homage to Stevie Ray Vaughan with burnings all over it. Four strings, with a pre amp and piezo rod pickup, made from a wine box and reclaimed wood.

That's my last one for a while. Going to concentrate on playing rather than building.

Just finished this for my daughter. 3 string stick dulcimer fretted G-D-G 22.5in scale.

I did buy some fret wire but had trouble cutting the slots and getting the wire to sit properly, so ended up using cocktail sticks as the frets

It has a nice twangy sound

Nice one Harold, nice and clean looking. I've thought about using nails for frets but never considered cocktail sticks

Finished a three string guitar for a Macmillan charity auction. I auctioned off a guitar I'd already built and also auctioned two custom builds for the winning bidders. This is one of them, the other is nearly done too. Three string acoustic/electric, neck made from an old table, and I've started putting a fret in the bridge, giving it a nice loud acoustic sound.

How high are the strings on the bridge? I have a bridge that is about 3/4 in high but unsure to use it as I think the string with sit to high along the neck to the nut.

I usually just use a couple of M6 machine screws for the bridge and nut.

I'm 3/4 of the way through a build for the Halloween contest over on cbgnation

I'd have to measure to be sure but I don't think it's much smaller than 3/4 of an inch, but I could do with shaving a little bit off it underneath. Glen Watt over at cbgnation says the way to measure is to use playing cards, and the strings should be 2 playing cards thickness away from the frets at the nut and 7 playing cards thickness from the strings at the 12th fret.

Must say I'm still a big fan of screws for the nut and bridge, I think they look more authentic.

Good luck with the halloween competition, I saw it but I never enter these things.

Well I got it finished but not in time for the competition here's my Halloween CBG

Día de Muertos

Single piezo pickup and volume control beer bottle cap, 22.5 scale, picking stick, EBE (as these were the only strings I had left ) a lego skeleton and a Día de Muertos pick.

This was the last of all my hardware, so I need to start building that up again. Next project is going to be a US licence plate CBG but not sure whether to stick with the dulcimer type or full guitar, as I still can't play them

That's awesome Harold. Pity you didn't get it in on time. I'm the same as you, I don't really keep much in the way of parts or stock so I'm forever waiting on parts arriving in the post, slows me right down.

This is the last of the charity guitars I made. Same kind of build as the last but this one has paws and teeth (the guy is a dentist/dog lover) up the neck and for sound holes.

Last one of the year, 4 strings, pre amp, pearl dot inlays and custom burnings on the back. Gonna give this a break now as I'm too busy with other stuff.

Haha cheers, yeah I've made over 60 now, I'd say I've kept around 20 of them, some are on a wall, a couple I use regularly and probably a dozen are in the 'guitar graveyard' in the shed. The rest I've sold or given away.

First one this year. A cookie tin in the shape of a jukebox, 3 strings, single coil pickup, screws for fret markers. Sounds nice and loud. Taking my time now, just doing it slow, for fun.

Had a couple of spare hours over the weekend, and had some old stuff lying around so I made this. A very small fretless two string guitar, with a tiny cigar box, a bit of leftover wood, 2 old tuners, an old bolt and metal bit for the bridge, and has an old piezo pickup inside. I reckon it was a fiver to make.

How do you play a 2 string guitar? I guess you can't play chords, just notes?

This one is tuned G-d so you can make a two note 'power chord' by playing with a slide, or like you say just play notes. You could also drop the G to a D and play like Blind Willie Johnson, two strings the same note but an octave apart. This one has no frets but if the string action is low enough you can still press down and make notes with your fingers. I did a quick demo of it plugged in here..

Been building very slowly of late, only managing one every couple of months, just struggling for time with one thing or another, but made these. First one was a house warming present for a Pearl Jam fan.

Second one is a Joker IPA themed one made from a champagne box, sprayed and lacquered with bottle cap controls.
