Recommended Android Apps - Part 3

Thought i'd start a new thread, seeing's as how useful the other one was.

Here's a bunch of Apps I use regularly:

Homework: if you work in a school, or any place that uses a weekly timetable then this is great.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/homework/klwinkel.huiswerk

Camscanner: great app for scanning documents and producing PDF's. Does some great processing work on black and white paper documents so the copies are useable.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/camscann...sig.camscanner

Note Everything: nice little note making app, that's nice and small when installed onto the SD

Now I've got my first android phone (Galaxy S2), I've been going through the previous thread and pulling out some apps.

Thanks to all those that put recommendations in there

Just read this review on an app called Paper Camera - applies in-phone filter effects to your camera shots.

Just installed an application called Onavo Lite which monitors data usage by applicable over a given time period. Looks promising.

Just gave that a quick go, and it ate up 2.13 mb of internal, while installed on the SD card. Nice idea, but I barely ever hit my data limit so not really worth it.

All apps will use up some internal space whilst installed on the sd card. It's just they use less.

I know that, but this used at least 1.5mb of data, rather than for the app, which is tons IMO for an app that essentially is just doing a little task.

I have just rooted and installed CM7, and restoring my apps, is there a quicker way of doing this, as im having to click install on each app.

How does everyone go through the steps to make it easier doing backups and restoring etc etc?

I use Titanium Backup but make sure you only restore apps and not system apps as this can cause conflicts with different roms.

You need the premium version of Titanium to be able to batch restore.

Plus you needed to be rooted so you could backup, before you, er, rooted.

Any recommendations for a free train times app?

The trainline one on the iphone is good, but the android one sucks!

Try 'Journey Pro by NAVITIME'. To be honest I don't need to use it all that often, but has always worked quite well when required.

Thanks, but neither of them are great for mainline train services in the UK.

I find Rail planner live from National Rail Enquiries works well and seems to cover all of the stations on the country. It also has a widget so that if you do a daily commute it will update you in real time on the status of the next three trains (and their platforms) which is useful for seeing delays on your journey, but if you set up an account it will also change at an appropriate time to show you the status of the trains on your return joruney as well.

Thanks, that looks like the one to go for in the absence of a decent free app (which trainline on iphone is).

For anyone not convinced by the 2 year 'lite' demo, there's now a 4 year 'free' demo of Game Dev Story: http://www.appbrain.com/app/game-dev...d.gamedev3_enF
I'm not sure why.

In any case, it's an awesome game, just buy the full 15 year version!
