I throught it was a really good episode and this season IMO has been the strongest of the show. The Lois / Clark relationship is far more interesting to watch than Lana and Clark ever where.

The promo for the next epsiodes was also pretty good.

Yes it was good again this week. I'm not sure this is the best season though, a couple of episodes were truly terrible. Then again, that's probably the case for all seasons of smallville
If only this season had started like season 8, that had a real strong opening couple of episodes.

I have been checking out some of the early eps as Sci Fi channel are showing them and some of them are pretty dire. Also there was the whole Lana witch story line which was awful also fast and the furious Pete

I think the only really weak episode this season was ''Roulette''.

Spoiler for future eps

Couple of pics from the upcoming, Feb 5th, double-length, Justice Society episode...

Hawkman looks good, Dr Fate looks ok but poor Stargirl looks like someone out trick or treatin' in a really cheap outfit bought from a supermarket.

Yeah, I didn't help myself by watching it between Dollhouse's finale and a double bill of 24.

He was 'Dead Hero Walking' Clark, I had to do something."
Please either kill Chloe or stop making her say crap like this.

And the Dark Archer guy was a bad enough actor as it was without the awful, cheesy lines they gave him.

Well some one saw Watchmen! I liked the multiple camera angle "news footage" with close-ups and where no one looks at the camera.

I haven't got to the end yet, but so far every single line said by chloe has been unbelievably cheesy.. she just can't act well enough to pull off "wise ass". It's really getting on my tits.

BTW the "fight" between the albino holding the piece of blue plastic and star boobs was the lamest thing I have ever seen in my entire life.

Chloe: "Looks like an antique, from a museum" ... err no it doesn't. It looks like a ninja star, from a 12 year old's sock draw.

Guy I can't remember the name of: "Humanities capacity for violence is great, but their capacity for hope is greater than any I've ever encountered".. wtf does that mean? They beat each up a lot but are hopeful for that to not happen as much? Lame..

I just don't get what the problem was with ice boy that required all the 'job seekers allowance' and Robin Hood and Superman and Mars man to dispatch him. No one seemed to be very proactive in capturing him and then they just stood around him pointlessly attacking his invincible helmet.. then Clark gave two eye zaps and that was it, he knelt there and waited to get a hit around the face with a mace. Clark usually dispatches those lame villains in a few seconds.

Also no one of them seem to react "faster than speeding bullet" when ice boy started to throttle Chloe... I know her death is what we all want.... but it didn't exactly seem to "fit" with the scene. Clark's face didn't even do that "jaw clench of anger" thing.

people on other forums are guessing that the apocalypse that waller warned against is actually Apokolips. better damn well not be! they didn't pull off Doomsday at all, no way they can handle Darkseid

That's a general Superman problem really Clark could have taken Ice boy easily but they have to depower him slightly to make it interesting and give the other heroes something to do.

Also I would say the budget was another issues in what abilities we saw from Clark in the episode.

Was good to see Martian Manhunter get his powers pack and get a glimpse of his Martian form though.

This ep?

Apart from Dr. Fate's way cool 'helmet on' ankh montage and a shot of the real John Jones, we had whiny emo ice boy, an incredibly lame fight scene between said "Icicle" and Star Girl, Pam Grier's head seems to be sinking into her shoulders, yet another secret organisation, yet another stupid character motivation and Daniel Jackson is playing the angriest man on the planet.

Yet I still watch...

I finally plucked up the courage to watch this last night. As a hardcore DC fanboy, I loved the zillions of references to obscure characters & organisations, and there was a couple of one-liners that no-one but DC fans would get, but apart from that, it was a big horrible mess. Geoff Johns is a great comic-book writer but he's got a lot to learn about writing for TV. He seemed to be trying too hard to crowbar in as much DC as possible. Great to see Checkmate arrive, but from the little we see, it's nothing like it is in the comicbooks, apart from Waller.

Dr Fate's costume/mask got pass marks but both Hawkman & Stargirl were horrendous. I'd rather have had Brian Blessed from Flash Gordon!

It also lacked a decent supervillian. I guess the crappy budget was to blame for what we got.
