I got the compendium comprising the first 48 issues for christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was surprised how different it is from the TV show after the initial setup.

I've read some twisted and shocking things in this comic but my jaw literally dropped when reading this. My god

I've just read the most recent volume (issues 79 - 84) this evening, and was also gob-smacked at the latest turn of events. A real shocker. Brilliant as always though - Kirkman pulls no punches!

After around ep3 the TV Show went its own way and did not really use anything from the comics for the last few episodes.

Even the first 3 episodes were a bit different with different/new characters although story wise it was fairly simulour to the comics they chose to change the fate of one character and the set up that come from that.

As good as the series is, the comics are so much better and manage to pull off a lot of things that I doubt the TV show will have the guts/be able to show.

Yep that's what I meant. I enjoyed the Compendium of the comics so much that I have been buying the collected volumes. Having just read volume 14 I was wondering how far off volume 15 is likely to be.

Got the compendium about a month ago and have subsequently bought book 5 and 6. Really enjoying these, can't wait for the next book to be published.

Available for pre-order from Amazon now.

The Walking Dead Volume 7 HC

It was £17.67 when I pre-ordered yesterday but it has gone up to £19.49. It might yo-yo a little until release and you've got the lowest price guarantee.

Are they really putting the Skybound logo on the hardcovers now? Looks really out of place

I think Kirkman's spread himself too thin. He's practically running Image these days and overseeing tonnes of Walking Dead non-comic projects. That and he's maintaining his stubborn "TWD and Invincible are going to go on forever" stance. I can understand him not wanting to end the series - it's a really secure job for him, especially as he refuses to work on non-creator owned stuff, but the series really feels like it should have built to a conclusion by now.

Hoping he does something to shake things up and make it interesting again.

Ugh, issue 90. That's a full arc where nothing's happened now. Think I'm going to give up reading this monthly and maybe wait a year. Hopefully by that time something will have gone down to respark my interest in the series.

This was my favourite ongoing comic for such a long time and easily in my top three series. Really disappointing to see it like this.

Funny thing is that the people in the TV series thread are bemoaning the lack of action!
If only they knew!

Spoiler about this arc:
