Rather than ring binders with polypockets, there are a variety of options if you consider display folders that basically have polypockets built into the spine.

Something like this:

folders

Look nicer on a shelf and the pockets obviously don't rattle around as much.

I like that idea.

The moreI think about it, the more I like the idea of ditching the boxes (apart from a select few).

Deaks, are you running the DVD Profiler Mobile version on your PDA? If so, which ones can you get for £40 that work with the software? I can't seem to find them.

I wouldnt like to put my collection in to a ring binder or any sort of book to be honust, what ive got is a few floor to ceiling units that hold a mass of dvds. You want the films to be on show so you can see what to watch also to show people what youve got.

Disc Sox

I use the DVD Pro Disc Sox from http://www.mmdesign.com/
they hold sleeve inserts and discs.
I get them shipped to my hotel on US trips which is by far the most economical option.

Hmm, question about the Neo stackable storage system previously mentioned... ...does it have anywhere to put a label on the actual drawer so that you'll know what numbers are in it? Also, are all the key the same...I don't want to buy half a dozen of the units only to find I have 12 different keys...how annoying would that be?!

I always have a PDA phone and currently have the XDA Stellar, but DVD Profiler mobile will run on anything running PocketPC 2003 or later. A quick look at the buy-it-nows on ebay brought up this:

Direct Link

Which is £46 all in but you should be able to get something even cheaper if you post to the classifieds or keep an eye on ebay. Just make sure you get something with a memory card slot to allow for the DVDProfiler data files.

You get 4 keys with the storage unit, 2 duplicates. Different key for each lock. I don't know yet if they will work on other draws. no labels for the drawer fronts. I was thinking of just putting a sticker on the front and labelling it specifically. for instance I've seperated my drawers so I have Japanese films in one draw and Korean in the other. But you do get index cards that you can keep at the inside front, which is easy enough reference.

If you're locking them to hide your pR0n, you won't be putting a label on the front surely?

How many A4 ring binders did you need to fit all the sleeves in Deaks? I have 1200+ DVD's & would be looking to store away about 900 of them.
Cheers

cheers.

nice of them to choose an arbitrary size for added confusion.

dvd forum member#1: now, what size shall we make the covers, standard A4... A5? it'll more convenient for us and the consumer.

dvd forum member#2: nah, let's make one up.

dvd forum member#1: nice one. is it lunch time, yet?

A little off-topic, but I am currently looking for about a dozen of the double disc amaray cases that were used by Criterion and the likes for their double disc dvd releases. Would be willing to pay + reasonable postage (or I have some DVD's I could trade). Drop me an e-mail or pm if you want to get rid of any.
