Six Feet Under complete S1-5 box set

I received my copy this morning, so having spent £100 on it I thought it would be nice to tell people I don't know on the internet about it to make me feel better about the heavy expenditure. Although, having said that, I managed to sell the first four seasons I had for £80, so considering I'd have to pay about £35 for Season 5, that's not bad at all.

The box is made of sturdy cardboard and looks nice on the shelf. Each season has had its outer box removed and is now just the inner digipacks with a new black slimline splipcase each with the SFU logo on, so you gain some packaging and lose some. I do miss my lovely season 1 box, though.

Now I am going to gradually sit through the lot again. I only wish it was for the first time.

Yep, it would be very nice, if we can see how the box look in real life. Netstore pictures "fake" all the time.

I had a look at the box in Virgin yesterday and it looked really nice from the outside, almost bought it there and then! Only problem is I've found the individual series on pre-order from DVD Crave for about £13 each (slightly more for season 5)!

Here you go...

A lovely set and a magical series. Working my way through season 5 now, which I have not seen. A real epic sense of finality building up already.

I am preparing myself for tears.

*must resist the urge to buy*

I can guarantee you will be rolled in a ball crying like a baby at the finale.

I on the other hand did laugh all the way through the utterly laughable finale! It was repugnant pap, as deep as a dry puddle and about as emotional as a tampon advert! Mind you this was a series that I feel stumbled at the start of season 3 and never regained it's footing, getting progressively worse and worse and more nauseatingly insular and eminently slap-able as it lurched from one pointlessly wedged in crisis to the next! ...and this was after the first 2 brilliant seasons which I consider to be some of the best television ever made. Never have I ended up so hating a series I started out loving! By the end I was relieved it was over and glad it was finished. I know I'm in the minority but it's just my own humble opinion! Seasons 1 and 2 are both 10/10 and then it's a 2/10 for season 3, 5/10 for season 4 and 1/10 for season 5.

Watched the last 5 episodes back to back today.

Perfect end to a pretty much perfect series.

Both Rachel Griffiths and Frances Conroy are totally stunning actress' IMO. You can't take your eye off them whenever they are on screen.

We have 63 episodes of stunning TV there. Let's hope that never gets spoiled. As much as I loved 6FU I really hope they never bring it back for any sort of 'reunion/let's catch up with them all' special or the like in 10 years time etc.

I too was a wreck at about 1530hrs this afternoon.

I agree with you. Enjoyed the first two seasons but found season 3 a real chore to get through and didn't bother with seasons 4 and 5.

Season 3 is not so bad, I think the only character arcs I didn't like in that season were Nate and Brenda's but there was tons of other good stuff. Season 4 was better but I'd place the last season up there with the first two. There are some amazingly emotional scenes and interesting storylines for all the characters. I can't remember disliking a single episode from the last run and they seemed to top themselves again and again right up until the finale which was superb in my opinion.

S3 did pretty much suck alright. But S4 really did get back on track in a big way.

Just now finishing the final season, #5. I can't believe how much I have cried in this last season. I am REALLY going to miss the Fisher family and all of their dysfunctional goings-on. This has been top-notch drama from HBO. One-of-a-kind.

Ooh, better not get this, my gf cries at anything emotional on TV, so this sounds like she'll be howling buckets.

Not too shabby. I might pick that one up. I passed on the last release as it was a bit too much at the time.
