I just watched episode 8 tonight and every one so far this series has been brilliant. The whole "Blacks" joke was weaved back into the story tonight and the line about "stabbing auntie in the stomach" was hilarious...!!

This week's was utter class from start to finish. The fake mugging (with the comedy arrest in the background), Coogan.... classic Curb.

Possible the best episode ever this week.

Coogan was excellent, his fake arrest was hilarious.

Larry slamming his knife down "I dont even like chicken salad"

For some reason I thought S5 was the last season! Really looking forward to seeing these now!

Sometimes I wonder how Larry has not killed himself, apart from his Seinfeld fortune, he must have the worst luck ever.

Another excellent episode - Coogan's therapist was superb, so was Leon. Loved the mugging scene - the frantic action in the background, and as for the phone call on the ferris wheel... roll on next week's episode!!

Coogan was fantastic. What a great run of episodes this has been! With The TiVo Guy, The N-Word and now this one, Larry is really on top of his game.

Ah, but Larry's problem (and the key way in which the character differs from the real Larry, according to the man himself) is that he doesn't self-censor. I completely buy the idea that Larry would have no interest in pussy-footing around the word.

As some others have said, 'twas Curb that introduced me to Seinfeld. While they're in a different format, the two shows have an awful lot of similarities; Seinfeld is much more daring than its traditional format might imply (and very funny).

He did at the end? And it wouldn't stop him from saying "Of course it wasn't me saying that..." afterwards.

Either way, pointless argument really as this is a comedy based on fiction, not a drama

I mean that I think he'd be offended by the idea of referring to the word indirectly: he'd say it properly, or not say it at all. So I think it fits with what he did.

But you're right, it doesn't really matter.

The R1 release of S6 is 29th January apparently.

Any chance of this turning up on More4 before that?

Has to be said. Best. Season. Ever.

Loved the final episode, absolutely brilliant from Leon's "Mopy Dick" conversation with Jeff, to the cinema queue antics of a fellow patron, to which Larry uses to stop someone moving into the opposite office and of course, the ending with the Blacks.

Looking forward to seeing this tonight, although will be sad that it will be all over for the season.

Anyone know if S7 has been given the green light? (not withstanding the writers strike)

I don't think it's a question of the greenlight - a popular and relatively cheap show like Curb must be profitable for HBO - but of whether Larry will do any more.

Just found an interesting interview with LD on the USA Today site.

In it he says:
Quote:
"Usually, I say it's my last season to help me get through it. I trick myself mentally." But last time, even David was dubious; his last season finale was titled "The End" and could have served as one. Then he started working on a movie — his first, 1998's Sour Grapes, bombed — "and at some point I thought, 'Gee, I'd rather be working on the show.' "

He now puts the odds of a seventh season at "50-50. If I go back to Los Angeles with 10 good ideas, that will tip the balance."
With his split from wife Laurie, let's hope that he does find those ten good ideas...

Best part was Loretta vs Susie at the end for 10 seconds... another class episode, just loved it when Larry pulled that stunt to get someone out of moving into that office...

According to the NY Post
Quote:
November 5, 2007 -- LARRY David - who never wanted to say from year to year whether he was going to keep doing his eccentric HBO comedy - is suddenly talking about doing "Curb Your Enthusiasm" for two, maybe three, more years.
If it lasts that long, Leon better be in it!
