The Offspring - Splinter

Anyone else heard it? I was pleasantly surprised as I think it is their best new material in recent years.

Hit That is indeed v strange.

After their last disastrous effort, I thought it was the end of a once-great band. How wrong I was.

I think it is definitely a return to form - lots of fast Songs.

Da Hui, Never Gonna Find Me, (Can't Get My) Head Around You, Long Way Home - all quality.

One thing I will say, if your a fan of The Offspring, you'll probably love it. If not, you won't be converted.

Speaking of wierd, the end track "When Your In Prison" -

Just listened to 'When You're In Prison'. Very much a novelty song methinks.

Not too keen on The Hangover song either but other than that a pretty decent album. I never got round to listening to 'Conspiracy of One' (other than the singles) is this one different from that?

'Conspiracy of One' is commercial mediocrity - The Offspring at their worst, whereas 'Splinter' is classic Offspring - tight, fast and full of great tunes!

Just "sampling" this at the moment, Its not bad, but strange bontempi action in "Hit That".
I also see according to play there is a version with a DVD.

not sure about this one yet.

Spare Me the Details (10) & Hit That (4) are my favourite two tracks, they were the only 2 thats really stood-out.

Not as good as Americana or Smash IMO.

The Offspring are the only 'punk' band I actuall like and this albums their best in aaaaaaages!

The only bad thing is that its only 32 minutes, its just getting started and its over.

Excellent final track now with 'When Youre In Prison'

Well, after several listens I have to say it is one of the best albums this year, and Offspring's best since Smash. There are too many good tunes to name, but a special mention must go to The Noose, as this is the most catchy and feelgood track in the past few years.
