Films you can only watch on your own

Kind of inspired by the post about discs you own but never watched....

Anyone else have films that you can only watch if your partner/flatmate/whoever is out?

Mine tend to be gangster films, anything over 2.5 hours long, westerns and war films!!

So as well as a 'yet to watch' pile, I also have a 'priority when the wife is out' pile...

At the moment, it's anything with Charlie Chaplin in it, which makes my current reviewing project a bit fiddly to schedule!

i prefer watching john carpenter or any films that have a siege mentality alone................

watching those type of films with the other half usually ends up with comments like 'well that's not very realistic is it' or even better if watching with friends having stuff like 'go on, give it some wellie' being said at key moments of tension can be a bit off putting

Nearly all the films I like watching my wife hates.

She doesn't like anything with action in. She hates anything scary, or violent.

The only thing she likes are children's cartoons, musicals, and romantic comedies.

For example: She was scared by the 'rollercoaster' style section in Monsters Inc.

So I tend to watch nearly all my DVDs on my own, and don't take her to the cinema very often.

Anything in Japanese (or weird with subtitles), confusues the hell out of my housemates. Given up when they couldnt even be bothered watching Akira...I had to leave them to Fame Academy instead

And they think I`m strange...

Sound like were married to the same person.

Oh and 'The Enema Rapist' only makes an appearance when I'm alone. :ignore:

I prefer watching most films on my own, the only exceptions are loud action movies and some comedies. My wife is like me with films and prefers watching them in silence which is great. Most other people though it's "Who's that? What film was he in?" and "I saw that plot twist coming at the start"

I recently took 2 of my mates to see cypher. I was met with a torrent of abuse as I left the cinema.

"What a load of ****, that wasn't very realisitic, lucy lui has small tits" etc. etc.

I only go to see films like bad boys 2 with them now :/

Put ARMAGEDDON in place of (the rather excellent) THE ROCK and I have the same problem

Things like MEMENTO, The Usual Suspects (anything with a plot) are a must. But I prefer watching most of mine by myself when everyone is in bed. 11pm a nice time to start

I don't think there is any DVD that I can't watch in front of my girlfriend! I've recently watch 'Ken Park' with her. I've also watch 'Caligular: Uncut' with her. I've also watched all my hardcore porn DVD's with her! :norty:

I've also watched Asian subtitled films with her. Watched 'Battle Royale' with her last night and have watched 'Hero' as well.

Actually I’ve just remembered! She doesn’t want to watch any of the ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ films! But she doesn’t mind ‘Hellraiser’ and wants to watch ‘Friday the 13th’ once I’ve got it.

Pretty much any Asian cinema. This includes Miyazaki films

Anything with Nicolas Cage or Terence Stamp in it

Rushmore - for some reason she refuses to watch this film even though she loves Royal Tenenbaums.
