Family Guy DVD Cut!!

There is an episode called "Road to Germany" (Season 7, Episode 3) which says on the BBFC website is cut by 46 seconds.

http://www.bbfc.co.uk/website/Classi...on=2#_Section2

This work was cut. The cut(s) were made at the request of the distributor to achieve a particular category. To obtain this category cuts of 0m 46s were required. Details of cuts below may contain spoilers of plot details. Show details »

Company chose to remove three uses of very strong language from an audio commentary track (the 'C' word ) in order to achieve a '15' classification. Cuts made in accordance with BBFC policy and Guidelines. An uncut '18' classification was available.

If it is just the sound of three uses of the word the 'C' word on the audio commentary why would it add up to 46 seconds ?

It doesn't make sense!!

Probably because they've had to cut the whole sentences being spoken.

Yep, that's probably what it was. But that argument is ******* ********. I don't see why a word is okay 2 or 3 times.. but 4! Save the children!

Probable BBFC Guide excerpt....

Rule: If a specific combination of letters is repeated a single time more than the guideline (we made) allows... said content will be cut to appease us. This rule is non flexible and probably will only be updated on a decade by decade basis; irrespective of changes in the natural use of popular language.

Reason: To hear the words we dislike spoken aloud 4 times rather than 3, within a 90 minute period (ignoring rewinds and chapter repeating), requires exactly 3 additional years of teenage life experience*.

*Life experience during those 3 years may vary to an indeterminate degree across individual content viewers. However, it remains that if they hear the special words one more time than we have decree... the world will end.

I remember a couple of years back the BBFC had a bee in their bonnet about Nunchucks. Any instance where they were shown was an instant x rating, same thing for head butts. They had to cut the first spider-man film for one or the other so it could get a 12 certificate. But now... what was Mrs Potato Head wield at the beginning of Toy Story 3? Yep Nunchucks, and no one gave a cats whisker.

I am not saying it is okay to use the word just querying as to why 46 seconds were cut from it.

Well, a few year ago nunchucks would be cut out altogether. Even for an 18.
(dunno where you get this 'x' certificate from? 1982??)

So not sure why people are having a pop at the BBFC in this case, they would have released it uncut, just not at the category the distributor wanted.

That's what I said. "x-rated" is an expression.... meaning "banned", "over 18", "unclassified" etc.

The single thing that offends the most people in films and on television is "bad language" - and repetition makes it more offensive.
