So what books did you get for Christmas?

...and are they any good?

I got Homicide: a year on the killing streets and The World Without Us

Halfway through the latter, and so far am really enjoying it, despite the doom and gloom. It has a section on the abandoned seaside resort of Varosha, which I had already stumbled across via the internet - an amazing place which was abandoned as part of the civil war in Cyprus in 1974, literally overnight, and has been fenced off ever since.

So what did you get?
It was me! - I brought all the lurkers... :D
