Question Jack Reacher alternative recommendations?

I've almost finished all the Jack Reacher books and have enjoyed them.

I particularly enjoyed the detective, mystery and problem solving aspects of them.

So any recommendations in their vain...

David Baldacci's Sean King series are a decent read if you enjoy Lee Child. In fact I'd say they are better written than the Reacher series.

Yep. Was going say the same
Problem with reacher being so popular is it's almost become its own sub genre. So many books now seem to have covers that echo lee child. Even books way way old than the first few teachers have been republished to sit along side reacher and tempt blokes in book shops

The more they proclaim to be the next reacher the less chance they are

Robert crais though is well worth a go. And now with added new reacher style covers.

I've read a few of the Mitch Rapp stories and very good - think I got a set of 3 from the book people for a fiver after a recommendation on here.

Must be an English version - maybe Duncan Falconer, bit better than the Chris Ryan etc al

Michael Connelly? Got into him after enjoying the movie Lincoln Lawyer and also the book, read all the Mickey Haller stories (4 of them) which are more courtroom but his Harry Bosch detective stories are really good. Read the first six so far, there are a few, and well worth reading.

As a big fan of Jack Reacher, I can recommend Scott Mariani Ben Hope series, and also Michael Kerr's Joe Logan books who is basically a copy of the Jack Reacher character but still a decent read.

I finished the last of the Rapp books recently, a much better series than Jack Reacher IMO.

It wasn't until I had finished the 1st book that I found out Vince Flynn died last year

I remember reading transfer of power not long after it came out and there was a blurb, wither in the book or in an advert / review for it about the movie rights being pit up for sale

Do I presume that someone never bothered but knocked the idea for Olympus has fallen and White House down ?

I never realised they ended up making a series of the books til last year

I've read all the Reacher books & love them & have tried all the numerous Reacher-wannabee titles with little success.

However, I just recently tried the first "John Puller" novel, "Zero Day" by David Baldacci & really enjoyed it. The only criticism I can give it is it is too similar to a Lee Child novel.

The main character is military trained & works alone - Check!
Solves a big crime in a small desolate US town - Check!
Teams up with attractive female law-enforcement officer - Check!
Beats up numerous bad-guys within one paragraph - Check!

Currently working through the second novel in the series, "The Forgotten" & it is equally entertaining & rigidly sticks to the same formula.

I'm surprised at the praise for the Vince Rapp novels. I tried the first three & was disappointed with all of them. I thought he was more Jack Bauer than Jack Reacher & wasn't surprised to discover that the late Vince Flynn worked as a technical adviser for 24.

I'll give this thread a bounce since it lead me from Reacher to Rapp and then all the Baldacci books. I am currently reading Sam Capra series by Jeff Abbott which are pretty decent and in that sort of genre.

Thanks for the Mitch Rapp recommendations. I've started reading in chronological order, and really enjoying the 'first' one, American Assassin.

My wife's just coming to the end of the Mitch Rapp ones. She's really enjoyed them, and sad they've ended (although the new author might do a decent job).

I've given her the Sam Capra ones to look at, thanks for that, she prefers stuff like this to girly mush.
