They're really good at slapping a bit of drama on it. A whitewash looking all but certain, far too many runs to get at the tail end.

Not sure this keeping the ashes if you won it last time and a draw is much good, maybe they should play a super inning or something if the series is tied. It'd keep the series going as a spectacle for an extra game.

I do retain a fondness for test cricket, despite the contemporary trend for limited overs, rapid-pace, big swinging cricket. There’s something quite interesting/different about the attitude required to be a test batsman.. to target duration at the crease over a big(quick) score.
But equally, a pitch that offers the bowlers something, allowing a team to be bowled out for <120 overs is probably the way forward, so that test matches end with a result, rather than an unfinished draw after 5 full days.
I know that Headingley is well known for getting a result inside the 5 days, so perhaps this wasn’t reflective of the matches/pitches remaining. But this last few days was an exceptionally good advert for test cricket. It certainly makes me day-dream about going out and bowling a short-spell of medium pace, with in-swing... and I haven’t bowled in 20+ years.

And again....130-2 with Root looking like he is going well then suddenly 207-7.

Mitchell Marsh who I don’t think is a great test bowler has just bowled 8 overs, 3 maidens 3 wickets for 17 runs.....if that was Pattison on Starc yeah ok but Marsh. England really need to learn how to bat in red ball cricket again. Laughable how bad they are at the minute

Decent recovery at the end but middle order pap again. Batting is really poor generally. Root had 3 lives before he’d gone far past 30!

Still, I’m going for next 2 days so will cheer the chumps on

I've got tickets for Monday, not convinced I'm going to see any play...
