I'll be sure to ask all TV producers to run show plans by you first.

Making sure, of course, they remove all nuance as it clearly passes you by.

Thanks. I'll try and set them straight before production begins

Having seen summaries of the Book (since watching the Amazon version)
And reading articles about where the Amazon version deviates from the Book.
I totally understand why things "could" come across very different from just watching the Amazon version.
All the people involved in the film production, and many here have of course read the book, and "get" what the film means in certain key areas.

Just not convinced how obvious these things are to those who know nothing about what the film means and will take things on face value as presented in the Amazon version.

Also happy to accept we all enjoy different things, but this is more of a change to major meanings than just a preference.

How about reading the ******* book? Make your own sodding mind up.

Seriously. I'm out.

Debating shows is great. But when you base your side on things you'd like to have happened, or things you imagined, it's just mental.

No No.... you have me wrong.
I was basing my views on the Amazon film.
Not my fault they've changed things from the Book to an extent where Amazon viewers may not understand what things mean, that were more understandable in the book.

My only gripe with the Amazon series is it left, for me, questions I'd had from the 1st episode totally unanswered. that's all.
I know my friend at work is asking the same questions as I was (but he's barely half way yet)

Anyway, will leave this now as we're going round in circles with those who "got the film" as they knew the meanings form the book, so we've seeing things from different perspectives.

Given the ending (in the Amazon version), I'd be interested at how they could backtrack to the characters to create a 2nd series.

So despite disliking it and complaining about it it all the way through, having no understanding of what is happening, disliking the writing and most of the "unhappy" characters, not understanding the historic parallels, themes and cultural references and many other parts of the show you either don't like or understand.

You're going to tune in for the 2nd series?

Well, I'd deff watch the 1st episode for sure as I'd be dam interested how they could swing it.
Unless of course, they absolutely change things and come up with some different scenario.

If there was an agree button I'd hit it.

I think I'll just put him on ignore as he's either trolling or just too dumb/completely *********** weird to be bothered with.

Tempest, I don't think what DeadYankee said was wholly referenced towards you, he used the situation to cleverly crowbar in a Vapors' song. I happen to like the Vapors, hence my

Just finished watching this. Excellent TV, and as said, chilling stuff.

Bit of a shock ending, but the tension in the last episode was palpable!

When is season 2??

Having just skimmed 132 posts, I'm looking forward to watching this. Only get time for 1 hour tv program most nights, and the Mrs uses that to watch downtown abbey, so might be a while.

Always loved alternate history type programs. Can't imagine why anyone would expect 17 years after ww2, for hitler to turn out nice after all. I'd expect him to drop atom bombs all over Africa, the Middle East, Russia, China, etc.

Going to be interesting to hear thoughts from my work colleague tomorrow morning.
Like myself he had never read the book, or knew anything other than this Amazon show.
He started off, after watching the 1st couple looking forward to seeing how this alternate universe was going to pan out as shown in this series.
As of last week he'd got up to two episodes from the end, and was totally baffled about the films.
Will get his reaction tomorrow as he will have finished watching it.

It's almost as if the films are supposed to be some kind of mystery.

Incredible.

Without prior knowledge, of course they are.
Take any previous second world war movie, and introduce films showing an "Alternate world" into the storyline that the characters in the film don't understand and wonder where they came from and how they were made, then of course they will stand out like a beacon as a mystery.

I'm also keen to find out what he thought the ending meant. (could be one of two ways from my perspective)
One way kills the possibility of a second series, so I presume it's the other way.

Is that not the point he's making? They're intended to be a mystery.

When you say prior knowledge, do you mean of history or of the story?
