If I've completely forgotten what happened in the pilot for this will I be ok going straight into episode 2?

I rewatched it just to be safe.

Tempest....I could be wrong as I've been watching this often with subtitles with a screaming baby on my shoulder pacing around the lounge, but...You seem to have an issue with the girl and the car-crash bit...

Can we please keep this on the topic of the show and not off-topic political and theoretical philosophical discussions etc.

Trying to avoid reading too much here as this is a show I want to watch and don't want any spoilers!

This is the problem with on demand stuff where all ten episodes have been dumped on the same day, some people binge watch it, others don't. Makes it really difficult.

FFS - Tempest - do you intentionally make things difficult?

Well, from memory: (using spoiler tags so as not to upset anyone)

Finished it this morning and it was fantastic. Absolutely loved it. Can't wait for season 2.

Do you feel there could be a season 2 based upon the ending of this film?
Leaving the book to one side as they've radically departed from the book in the following:

Our interpretations of the ending are radically different.

I can accept that.

Do you feel this may have anything to do with the fact you have read the book, so understand things, and perhaps notice something in the film, that is a "different was of interoperating" something you already know from the book, so you, as it were "get it"

As opposed to someone knowing nothing, not seeing or even being aware of the references, and just taking what's shown in the film as literal, and as I said (and no need for a spoiler as this is in episode one)
Which mysterious person/entity is creating these physical movies they are handling and watching which is too realistic to be faked) and as this is the main background driving theme during the entire series, hoping to find out where they come from.

As I say, I have at least one work colleague watching this (but only at weekends) and he knows nothing about this book/story other than the amazon film, so I'm going to be interested to hear what he thinks.

The following link (blanked out) explains things, and I get it, from that explanation.
However, for myself as a virgin viewer knowing nothing. Pretty much none of this came across to me in the Amazon series:

Please do not click on the link below if you are still watching this TV series.

Erm, how much did you pay attention? Japanese.

Apologies, was just a blanket term. Oriental, how's that? not really paying much attention to that side of things.
I was more interested in the films and who made them, how they were made and what the outcome of them was going to be. for me the rest of it was just padding really getting in the way of this bit I was wishing to know more about.

Amazing. Spend 10 hours watching a show you don't like. And then start talking about season 2 and imaginary bits that haven't been made.

Move on.

Honestly I don't really care. It's not something that has any relevance to me to care about. Some silly old duffer who uses straws to work things out.
Can't take him, or anyone sersiously after that.

May as well ask me where Katie Price was born, I don't care.

Still feel it's impossible for any book readers to grasp the film as it stands in any objective way.

You see no relevance in difference between a Japanese and Chinese character in this particular series? Do things really have to be so explicit?

Bearing in mind the fairly clear difference between those two countries in WW2.....ya know.

Personally for me. No.
He could have been a Rastafarian for all I really cared.
He was just a trade minister who threw sticks around, his position/job was for me the only thing of note.
And of course the ending, which we won't of course mention.

As I say, I was really more interested in the main thread of the series, the films, who made them, how were they made technically , and who was collecting them.
