Maybe cooling the drivers will help the aero?

There's a good article (by scrabsf1) on autosport plus about the slot on the Red Bull, he reckons Newey is telling the truth and the air does cool the driver. However, on the other cars air goes along the nose section and gets pushed airward at an angle by the bump. Reb Bulls design allows the air on the bump to go though on to the driver and the air above that to be uninterfered with and run along the top of the monocoque, which is better for aero. Hope that all makes sense

You're saying there's less turbulence coming off the step for the air travelling over the nose. I think.

Pretty much yes, that what scarbsf1 thinks anyway it's just trying to keep the air 'clean' in his opinion anyway.

Nose comparisons interesting how they all differ more than you expect.

Guess Webber and Vettel will be hoping there aren't any wet races else they'll get soaked!

It's been reported that Rubinho will be signing his new IndyCar contract soon.

I like the new Lotus Renault design. The nose-step is not a step at all but a smooth curve, making it look more aerodynamic than the rather harsh step in other designs. Early testing seemed promising as well and I hope that Raikkonen han provide some thrills in the new machine.

Petrov replaces trulli at catherham. Can't really understand the timing of the decision to be honest, why not make it earlier. That's trulli, buemi, alguersauri and sutil who've been screwed over by their teams now. Trulli and sutil will probably be dtm/sportscar bound, but I guess alguearsauri has to be hot favourite for the Pirelli test driver role now.

Also Ferrari no longer have the ugliest car, that honour now goes to Mercedes, whose car has a huge step going into a flat and wide nose. Apparently, Mercedes officials were chasing the rogue photographer around silverstone and even before anyone was admitted to the circuit, bags were searched and any mobiles/cameras were taken away. Didn't work though

That Mercedes nose is even bigger than Ferrari's and the car is by far the ugliest on the grid. Perhaps the designer was listerning to Neil Armstrong's 1969 broadcast as he walked on the moon.

Anyone follow Moto GP?

Considering going to the french Grand Prix and camping there but there's no real information about doing that on the official site. Anyone ever done it or have any advice? Would be taking my girlfriend who isn't really interested in motor racing so wondered what sort of stuff goes on all weekend.

Isn't the French GP at Le Mans? If it still is just follow one of the Le Mans 24 Hours guides like this one http://beermountain.com/
Unlike the full circuit the Bugatti circuit at Le Mans is a bit mickey mouse, Assen would be a better choice imho, if the dates suit

Yep it's Le mans.

It was going to be for my 30th Birthday (Which is on the 17th) and the French GP starts on the 18th but I'm not really sure, just getting ideas at the moment

The in-circuit camping site looks the best from what that website says. Le Mans is quite close to the Loire Valley which is a really nice area to visit, plus the circuit has a lot of history, museum, etc. Mainly around the 24 hour race, but it'll still be interesting

Has anyone being following the testing at Barcelona? Jerez was too early to make conclusions, but Red Bull and McLaren look good. Mercedes look decent too, but it's probably a little too early to make conclusions about them. Ferrari look like they are in trouble though

Now Juan, I want you to go out and hit the jet dryer... (Montoya crashes into track jet dryer at 2012 Daytona 500)
