The latest Denzil Meyrick is 99p. Its been out for 4 days

The Relentless Tide: A D.C.I. Daley Thriller - The number 1 bestseller returns (A DCI Daley Thriller)

The latest in a series of crime novels set in Scotland, similar to Ian Rankin. Started the first one earlier this year and within a week had read them all. Recommended.

Michael Lewis - 'Flash Boys' - second time at 99p in 4 years.

Quote:
  • A beautiful narrative, so well-written. You've got to get this (Jon Stewart, The Daily Show)
  • Dazzling... guaranteed to make blood boil... riveting (New York Times)
  • Compelling, a great yarn from beginning to end (The Times)
  • When the stories of our times are told, there will be no more seminal documents than the books of Michael Lewis (Guardian)
  • Michael Lewis is a genius, and his book will give high-frequency trading a much-needed turn under the microscope (New York Magazine)
  • This book has the potential to spark a cultural uprising . . . More than five years on from the Lehman collapse, Lewis has lit the touch paper on the mother of all debates about Wall Street and global finance (Spectator)

And first time 99p for:

Michael Lewis - The Big Short

Quote:
From the jungles of the trading floor to the casinos of Las Vegas, The Big Short, Michael Lewis's No.1 bestseller, tells the story of the misfits, renegades and visionaries who saw that the biggest credit bubble of all time was about to burst, bet against the banking system - and made a killing.
  • 'In the hands of Michael Lewis, anything is possible ... if you want to know how a nation lost its financial mind - and have a good laugh finding out - this is the book to read' Sunday Times
  • 'Magnificent ... a perfect storm of brilliant writer meeting big subject' Guardian
  • 'A triumph ... riveting ... The Big Short reads like a thriller' The Times
  • 'A terrifying story, superbly well told' Daily Telegraph
  • 'A rollicking good yarn' Financial Times
  • 'Probably the single best piece of financial journalism ever written' Reuters

Michael Lewis - The Undoing Project
Quote:
In 1969 two men met on a university campus. Their names were Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky. They were different in every way. But they were both obsessed with the human mind - and both happened to be geniuses. Together, they would change the way we see the world.
  • 'An enchanted collaboration ... During the final pages, I was blinking back tears' The New York Times
  • 'My favourite writer full stop. Engages both heart and brain like no other' Daily Telegraph
  • 'Brilliant, a wonderful book, a masterclass' Spectator
  • 'Psychology's Lennon and McCartney ... Lewis is exactly the storyteller they deserve' Observer

Adrian Mole: The Prostrate Years is £1.99, I'm loathed to promote a £1.99 book but whilst they had a habit of reducing the earlier ones to 99p, they seemed to stop and haven't been back. It's certainly a great read and allows me to get rid of a tatty hardback I got when I wanted to reread the series.

Looks like it's been £1.99 since 31-Aug, and never been near to that since 2011.

Thanks, went for Rebecca. I didn't get the other one as I recall I read it before (from the library I guess). I quite like his generic thrillers and don't recall it being bad.

It's October and new monthly deals, a few highlights as well as the Ken Follett mentioned above

Band of Brothers
2001: A Space Oddysey (which I didn't own so probably never been 99p before)
Farenheit 451 - £1.49

Quite a lot of political book, if you like to read about Brexit, Jeremy Corbyn or memoirs from old Tories, it's the month for you. Doesn't matter what you think, there seems to be a book for whatever you think.

If you remember David Cameron, Lord Ashcroft's book with the penis in pig mouth is an optimisticly priced £2.79.

I can't really recommend them, never read any of them and I don't really need to read about stuff I lived through and saw (modern politics generally, not the penis pig incident)

3 big reads here, all dropped to 99p a week ago -

Paul McCartney: The Biography - 800 pages, first time cheap (read his recent GQ interview for the circle-jerk revelations!)

Andrew Marr - A History of the World - 500 pages (has dipped to 99p previously, so you may have it).

Michael Palin - Travelling to Work: Diaries 1988–1998 (Book 3) - 600 pages, first time cheap.
(It may take a while for vols1&2 to go cheap, and we just missed the 3-book compendium at £4! )
