Colditz - Hard to get hold of now, but a cracking game.
Risk - You need to be with the right bunch for this game to be any good, but if you are then it's fantastic.
Monopoly - Absolute classic, but don't play with kids.
Trivial Pursuit - Loved this right from the Genus I days.
Scrabble - Hated this as a kid, but really enjoy it now.
Chess - Quite simply the best board game ever...
Go - ...unless this is. Very hard to call.

Settlers of Catan is probably my favourite, would like to play Fury of Dracula again - alas th emate I played with didn't like it, but I tohught it was dripping in theme. Also love Maharaja - the only game I've played where everything is changeable including turn order, Shark - great stock market game, Puerto Rico and Race for the Galaxy, for something a bit heavier. I love Merchant of Venus the one time I played it, but cant afford the hundred quid mark it goes for on ebay.

Old style games I love Scrabble, and will have to grab Chess again one day.

If you don't know the world of modern boardgaming head over to www.boardgamegeek.com for more, or watch boardgames with chris on youtube to find out about certain games.

Shadows over Camelot is good fun with a group of mates. Carcassonne with a couple of the expansions scales down really nicely, so tend to play this when only one or two other people. Ticket to Ride Europe gets ALOT of play time in our house too, and Powergrid too. We play Settlers of Catan from time to time as well. Also, Agricola from time to time, although it's abit long winded.

Still haven't got round to playing Battlestar Galactica or Cosmic Encounter since buying them over xmas, and probably wont till next xmas either

Used to love playing Atmosfear when we were younger, had both versions and the add-ons

These days, Scrabble is a classic, and tried out 221B Baker Street recently which was alright. I prefer the imaginative games like Articulate + Absolute Balderdash though, they're more of a laugh to play (and you can quite often make them up on the spot if you don't have a board, just need paper + pens).

Mine was "the treasure of the Pharaohs" - came home from school one day and my mum had chucked it! - it still hurts
