streaming media to PS3

I am getting a PS3 in the near future and was reading a bit into streaming media to it.

Could someone tell me where the processing is done in this please? Does the PC which has the files on it process the media or does the PS3 do it?

Thanks

As long as you have the latest system updates on your PS3 then you should have all the codecs you need for most media files. Then all you need is media software on your PC, I use twonky which is excellent, easy to use and only about Ł15.

Thanks, I am aware of a number of these products.

However, I still don't know where the processing is done. Say I have downloaded my video of the epcot fireworks to my PC and share it in WMP11 or one of these other products does my PC do the processing of the video and the PS3 just shows it or does my PC simply pass the file to the PS3 and it does the processing.
