For me personally this forum would be ruined if the book readers are ejected.

Sparkyrob has beaten me to it!

I came in here to post a good "Spoiler-Free" picture of all the Houses and relationships. It's a bit bigger and a little harder to follow at first until you've sat and stared at it for a few minutes but it shows more details of the relationships than Sparkyrob's. I think both work together as his has the faces on as well.

EDIT - It's a bit big so link only.

Very well made chart - no photos but a lot of personality put into it. I noticed quite a funny little thing in there which only book readers will get - I'd better be good and not say it here, so I will try and put it in code: look at the logo on the line linking the Knight of Flowers with somebody else.

Do you mean the logo in inverted commas? If so I think it's fairly obvious what that means.

No doubt someone will come along to moan about spoilers seeing as there are characters mentioned in those images that haven't been introduced in the TV series yet.

Can't say I was all that impressed with the 4th episode, it seems like HBO are just insistent on changing more and more of the novels and boosting other characters at the expense of others - not to mention making the story less plausible by changing the age of certain characters and also by not applying the simplest of theatrical techniques (black hair dye, anyone?). I also HATED that the exposition of the history between Sandor Clegane and his brother Gregor was reduced to a bit of tourney banter between Littlefinger and Sansa. They've screwed Rory McCann and the fans of his character right over with that imo.

I thought Mark Addy was a bit better as King Robert this week though, more lively at least; even if he was given very little screentime - and oh look: Ned Stark and Cersei had a scene together!

Does anyone know if there has been any talk by the producers as to why they decided to drop the mismatched eyes of Tyrion Lannister (One green, one black)?? Dinklage allergic to contact lenses or something??

I thought that odd too, the way it was wrote in the book is much better. Iirc the writer for this episode was different to previous episodes, which may have had an effect.

I thought the 4th episode was by far and away the strongest so far. It was the first one that managed to work exposition into the dialogue in a properly entertaining and gripping way. Some really powerful characters moments, too - notably Dany putting Viserys in his place and Catelyn calling upon her bannerman at the end.

I can't really see any reason to get upset over somebody's eye colour, or hair colour, or if they weren't riding the same kind of horse the book described, or something. At first I was a bit bugged that they gave Littlefinger the story to tell Sansa, but he did it so well that I ended up liking the change.

I'm not bothered about the eye colour change either, I'm just curious has to why they didn't bother considering it's one of Tyrion's most oft-mentioned attributes in the books & all it would have taken to get the detail was a pair of tinted contact lenses.

EDIT: Actually when I think about it, it must have been dropped for practical reasons, if you have a character with mismatched eyes then with the rather minimalistic way the show is shot viewers would rarely get to see that detail, so they'd either have to keep mentioning it or keep shooting close-ups to remind viewers. Probably more trouble than it's worth.

The hair colour on the other hand WARNING: NOT REALLY MUCH OF A SPOILER, BUT JUST IN CASE:

A friend of mine started reading the books and she had real issues with the eye colour thing. Essentially it's one of those things that happens a lot in fantasy stuff and it's a bit too much: everyone has to have fantastical physical attributes, so it's not a surprise they might mute it a bit:

I initially thought that, but when I considered it a bit more i thought it made sense. On one hand you've got the Hound, who's this mysterious sinister character in the background - now why would he go and divulge his most sensitive past history to some high born miss he hardly knows.

I thought it made sense for Littlefinger to tell it, just to illustrate how he knows so much of the workings of the court and it's people.

That said, I think it would have been an immensely more rewarding (and extremely tense) scene if they'd left it as it was.

Just watched Episode 5. Wow, wow, wow. Absolutely the best one yet and I've loved every episode. Didn't want this to end.
I'll make no other comment until everyone has seen the episode later today.
Do not miss!

Let's make a giant chess set.

Thanks to those who posted the family trees as I needed to confirm a family relationship mentioned on screen (Lady Stark and previous Hand of the King). It has probably been mentioned previously in the show but I am only now absorbing it.

This season will be getting a rewatch once completed just to see what I was slow to pick up on or completely miss the first time.
