Is anyone else watching it on Sky standard def? The picture seems very soft to me (this is on a SD CRT, so normally SD stuff looks pretty good)

Really enjoying this. Watched the first episode twice and it all makes a lot of sense now.

Off on holiday in 2 weeks, do I read the book(s) now?

What's so confusing about the wolves? Each kid has one, it's not hard to follow! (Lady was the older girl's one)

As for your other question:

Also to anyone confused about how big the wolves are already: They are definitely still pups, they're direwolves and IIRC the book describes the average size of a fully-grown direwolf as being the size of a pony.

Just watched the first ep and

I did have one thing I couldn't follow though. The nightwatch guard that deserted after the other 2 were killed said he knew he should have gone back to the wall and warned the others.

I may be wrong here but from the opening credits the wall is to the north. He went through the wall so was north of it, he ran south into Winterfell and got caught. How did he run south and get past the wall without getting through the tunnel(s) and a fort?

That is indeed a slightly tricky one, as the opening sequence plays out quite differently in the book. My best guess is that he did return to the wall, then ran away during the night.

I'm currently reading the first book so don't know a tremendous amount about the geography around the wall, but could he not have snuck past to the west of the wall, or snuck in through one of the abandoned castles across the wall (the Night Watch have a serious lack of manpower afterall)?

Loved the second episode. Brilliant storytelling, I have so much vitriol for that little Prince it's untrue.
Peter Dinklage is becoming my favourite thing in this show, besides the boobies.

Yes, I think it is soft too - especially visible in the credits at the end. I'm viewing the SD feed on a Sky HD box connected to a HD TV via HDMI, so it should be the same upscaling I usually get.

(I'm too cheap to pay for the HD monthly fee)

It wouldn't surprise me if they were doing it on purpose to "encourage" HD upgrades.

I've loved the Imp from the first ep where his borther wants him by his side that night so has to let in a dozen whores to satiate his appetite. Cool scene, and for some reason at the mo am trusting the imp cos I believed the imp when he mentioned that his nephew was not nice.

Loved the slapping the Imp gave the nauseating prince - hoping the Imp is not an evil character like his sister and brother maybe more of an antihero
