Apocalyptic Sci-Fi - Name the film please!

Hi clever people!

I've just watched The Day The Earth Caught Fire - which was fantastic, but not actually the film I thought it was... the first clue being that it was in black and white!!

Anyway - can anyone pinpoint a film I recall seeing on telly years ago? I don't remember much specific apart from lots of fire and the discovery that something silly had been changed, like the charge of an electron.

It may have also been one of those films that ends without you knowing exactly what anyone was going to do about it or whether everything was going to be alright..

I have a feeling it was 70's or 80's, 'cause it was around the time I first saw Night of the Comet (another fab film!!).

And while I'm at it, does anyone have any recommendations for other dodgy sci-fi disaster flicks?!

Things like:

Logans Run
Zardoz
Andromeda Strain
Soylent Green
The Omega Man
Phase IV

Cheers,
Andy

Is it Solar Crisis staring Charlton Heston?

It's 1990 though, so it's probably not it!

Definitely seems to be The Quiet Earth.
Would like to see this out of curiosity.........

One thing - if the structure of matter has changed, how comes everything else is untouched?

Hey - excellent! I think you might be right with it being The Quiet Earth!

I'd spotted bits about it on other threads while searching the forums, but figured it was just one I'd also like to see out of curiosity. Fantastic.

Its not out on DVD though, is it?

I do also recall Crack in the World being good, and I saw Damnation Alley on Sci-Fi a couple of weeks ago - that was good fun too.

Forums are great!
