I'm a huge fan of the books but i think Sons of Anarchy is the better TV show this year. Need to get around to watching Boardwalk Empire though.

Breaking Bad.

Game of Thrones is hot though.

Yeah, loved Game of Thrones - can't wait for it to return! However, I do agree - Boardwalk Empire is just as good IMO, but NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING can compare to either of this seasons Breaking Bad or Sons of Anarchy! Absolutely tremendous TV! IMHO of course...

Just went back and rewatched this having read all of the books after I watched Season 1 for the first time. I found it a much more fascinating experience having read the books. There are lots of clever little nods and bits of fortelling that add to the wonder you miss not knowing what is coming.

I also only just noticed the opening credits changed every week to reflect the locations that will be shown in that episode - duh!

Just saw a teaser trailer for season 2 on Sky Atlantic - doesn't start until April, so I presume Sky are planning to build up the hype levels to bursting point in the new year.

Very late to the party, but I just finished this after starting last week.

I'm speechless. It's one of the best things EVER made!

I wonder how far HBO will get making this?

My Blu-Ray boxset arrived today... Can't wait to work my way through this again - just in time for Season 2. Looks a great set.

Edit: Actually, this should have gone in the S2 thread. I was just so excited!

Just saw a new (to me, at least) S2 trailer on GRRM's site - looks fantastic, and I'm rubbing my thighs in anticipation.

Is anyone else having problems with the Season 1 Blurays? I have two Philips BDP3000 players (up to date firmware) and it either takes a few attempts for the discs to play or worse (on my living room player) they don't play at all! Have tried them on the PS3 and while they do take a while to start they do work. Anyone else had issues with them? Region B btw.

Blu-rays are working fine for me, on my dirt cheap Limit player.

Must be these Philips players. Maybe they're due another firmware update.

Right. Just sat through the entire first series in one and a half days. Think that says it all about how good I thought it was. Didn't finish until 3am this morning

Stonking series and, moreso, as it is set in something similar to the Skyrim universe. My only criticism would be that it was incredibly hard to follow with all the characters which means going through it all again.

I was also taken aback with the swearing (use of the "C-word"), nudity and gore.

Role on series 2

I Sky Plused the last episode of series one to give me a lead in (I did see the whole thing twice) & will wait 'till I have about five eps. of series two & then have a good old Game Of Thrones evening. I just couldn't go back to watching one episode a week of anything...& sitting through adverts, does anyone still do that? They make all these commercials, but I don't know anyone who watches them!
