Recommendations needed. If you Like Iain Banks' Culture, you'll love...

Any recommendations? I've read all the Culture books a couple of times now and looking for something in a similar vein.

TIA

Alasdair Reynolds' Redemption trilogy (also his Chasm City) are pretty good and involve similar techie cultures and lots of explosions.

Hyperion, Dan Simmons, might also be worth a look. I didn't read the whole series, but the first was excellent and is in the ballpark.

I'd go for Hyperion as well. I enjoyed all four books there. Love Dan Simmons stuff, just started Ilium which, so far is superb.

Also Peter F Hamilton's Greg Mandel series and Pandora's Star/Judas Unchained novels are worth a look.

I would, however, start with the recommendations in posts 2 & 3 as that was the exact route I went down from Iain M Banks and they are solid, excellent choices

The prologue of Hyperion, which I remember thinking could have been the start of a Culture novel, is available here legitimately, click the 'read excerpt' link. The formatting's a bit of a mess though, if you have a Kindle get the free sample.

Might need to re-read Hyperion actually, some of the best-written sci-fi I've ever read I think.
